Description:

I was tired of half-good themes with some icon from the Mac OS and others from some Crystal theme. So I decided to create my own theme based on what I like.
The "Ultimate Gnome" it's an icon theme for the GNOME linux desktop environment. It is a distro independent theme tested on Gnome 2.24.1 completely drawn with Inkscape. Every icon is drawn in a vectorial format (SVG/XML), and it is exported into a raster format (PNG) for fastest rendering on the screen. The work is published under a GPL v2, Hoping this will help those developers who need a GPL license to include this theme in their software.

More informations can be found at https://sites.google.com/site/ultimate-gnome/

Changelog:

2009/02/09 v0.5.1: Changed cut, paste and copy icons. PNG release for faster rendering and better quality.
If you found problems when installing, please read this https://sites.google.com/site/ultimate-gnome/help/cannot-reinstall-or-upgrade-theme

29/11/2008 There are some problems with GNOME 2.24.1 that cannot be resolved. I'm waiting for gnome to fix them. If you want to know more you could find some informations following this links: http://code.google.com/p/ultimate-gnome/issues/detail?id=14 and http://code.google.com/p/ultimate-gnome/issues/detail?id=19.

21/07/2008 v0.4.3 : Changed license from "Creative Commons (by-nc-sa)" to "GPL v2".

18/05/2008 v0.4.1 : Changed file-manager icon.

 One downside...

by tneo on: Jul 23 2008

Great set of icons this is. Too bad though that you use the same icon for log-out and shutdown.

They are the same in a lot of icon themes.
Are you talking about the red icon?
Could you suggest something different?
Anyway thank you for your comment.

For instance, like Hydrogen set has a blue icon for log-out and the red one for shutdown. Just downloaded the updated version which makes it more distinguished already. :)

Keep it up!

Nice work. Maybe are the red icons (like the pdf doc one) too much contrasting with the other ones?

Yes you are right, but the theme will be too blue if I change those icons. Leaving instead some red, yellow, green icon gives the theme a neutral appearance.
