GTK 2.x Theme/Style

Description:

Anachron is a GTK+ 2.x theme-engine with the intention to reproduce the look of the Ana SVG-theme by W. Tarchalski without sacrificing a lot of speed for the design.
It is not a perfect copy, but it's quite fast :-)

Anachron is *NOT* a pixmap/svg theme but a complete theme-engine written in C, so the installation is slightly more complicated. Unpack the tar.gz, then from a terminal, type

su (to become root-user)
./configure --prefix=/usr
make
make install

[You will need a compiler to do this.] Once finished, the AnachronAna style should be available from gnome-theme-manager.
Note: The metacity window decoration from the screenshot is not included. You can get it from the original Ana theme which is also available on Gnome-Look. I'll see if I get permission to include it in this package in a later version.

Changelog:

2005-02-03 [0.1]
Initial release. Several widgets are still defaulting to GTK-inbuilt renderers,
including checkbox, radiobox as well as notebook (but not notebook tab). Engine
should however be stable, please report any crashes.

man, it crashed the hell out of Xfce on NetBSD 2.0. At the moment I'm not sure exactly why, but if I figure it out i'll make a post. "I'll install it on CRUX later tonight and see what happens"

This is strange, I using XFCE at the moment, works just fine here...

OS: Linux (kernel 2.6.10)
Distribution: Slackware (current)

Obviously that's not supposed to happen. Can you give some more details about your system? (P)PC?, 32/64 bit? Is gnome installed or do you use GTK only?...

On my NetBSD install I don't use GNOME, only Xfce w/ GTK 2.6.x. My System is an AMD 2000+ [i686/1.67GHz] [PC]. Unfortunately, when it crashes it doesn't give me any real error? I tried running some of the xfce modules through a terminal to see if any errors would pop up as things crashed, but nothing of any use printed.

On CRUX (Linux 2.6.10-ck2 [i686/1.67GHz] GTK 2.4.14) everything seems to run fine? Go figure?

I've successfully tested it on GTK 2.6 now, so the issue is likely BSD related. I added some more pointer checks, but since I can't reproduce the problem it's only a wild guess.
I'll release a new version with that and more new stuff (gtkrc options) somewhere next week.

 drag'n drop problem

by emrahunal on: Feb 5 2005

my whole desktop becomes white when I try to drag a file.
probably because of using gnome development release, 2.9.x, since it seems I'm the only one who experienced this.

I see the same thing in GNOME 2.9. Other than that, this is very, very nice!

Its an engine bug and will be fixed in the next release. It's not a gnome 2.9 issue.

I'm afraid I won't make it this week anymore. The bugfix itself would have been quite easy, but I already started to convert some of the hardcoded design elements to a gtkrc-controlled version - which will take a few more days, especially since I couldn't get away from a book I was reading ("Song of Ice and Fire") :-)

I get the same issue under Gnome 2.8. Very nice theme engine, by the way. First-rate work, and well worth fixing this little bug :P
