I just converted from cursorXP version X11 and adapted with GIMP, animations maximum is 64x64.
Try it you, if you like this cursors, download from http://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?libid=25&sort=rating

1) download sd2xc from http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/CursorXP+to+X11+Mouse+Theme+Converter?content=104659

sd2xc-2.4.pl works only with *.CurXPTheme version, unable to convert the *. CursorFX

2) install sudo apt-get install libconfig-inifiles-perl perlmagick imagemagick x11-apps

from shell...sd2xc-2.4.pl -v yourcursor.curxptheme

or if you resize sd2xc-2.4.pl -v -resize 80 yourcursor.curxptheme

for edit from GIMP you need xmc plugins
download from http://www.gimpstuff.org/content/show.php/X11+Mouse+Cursor+(XMC)+plug-in?content=94503

and edit your cursor without the link! :-)
