Description:

nuoveXT is an icon theme for GNOME and KDE.

This is my first attempt of creating an icon theme. There is still a lots to do, but I thought I could share what I've done so far. Made entirely with Inkscape.

A big THANKS to:

- Inkscape: what a great tool! :D
- Ubuntu, Linux and Open Source in general
- All the other GNOME and KDE artists who have inspired me and specially everaldo (http://www.everaldo.com/) which is, I think, simply the best icon designer out there ;-)
- Open Clip Art Library (http://openclipart.org/).
- DeviantArt: One of the best place for inspiration and artworks.
- pwsp.net for hosting my project.

Constructive feedbacks are more than welcome ;-)

Enjoy!

Saki

I like these icons!

Is it possible to get all the nuovext 1.5 mimetype icons in SVG format?

Nuovext 1.5 provided some useful mime icons (like ooo base, dia, ooo templates)
which I miss in the new version

I would say, NuoveXT is not really a Windows7-icontheme. There I would prefer the original. I have the original already so that I do not need this strange mixture.

Hello,
I'm using the nuoveXT 1.7 Icon-Theme and I very like it, but I've got some problems...

When an application wants me to open a file, using the file open dialogue of gnome, the CPU_usage goes to 100%. I think this is caused by the scalable icons which are included. When I remove the scalable-folder all is working fine, but some icons, for example the mime-icons are missing (of course).
Is there any possibility to convert the scalable icons to PNGs?

Regards
Matz

I can second that, observed more or less massive slowdown (depending on CPU) on 3 machines. Removing 'scalable' helps.
Machines were running Ubuntu jaunty.

Hello

I have the nouveXt modded in the last Weeks.
Is not complete, are almost.
Whe you now Work proceed, the nouvext Theme, than send my Work to you.

The following is the translation of the German from above:

"Since I don't know if that was understandable, I'll rather do it in German. Would be great if someone would translate it correctly in english. (That's me)

So I have been working on thenouveXtTheme the last few weeks. (since it wasn't updated for a long time) I've added missing icon names and made a few icons myself. Since he is still maintaining the theme, I would like to send him my work, without publishing it myself."

Saki,

I'm getting an error message when I try and use this. None of the icons seem to be working.

The archive file got corrupted somehow, I have just re-uploaded it. Please try again.

N.B. The size of the archive should be 8.3 MB

It's sad to see a great theme lose its usefulness by becoming obsolete. Please check out and use my Mashup icon theme which is live and fresh with regular updates. Here is the link:

Dude, this is completely uncool. Don't come to someone else's theme and put up adds for your own. People know your theme is available. It's there on the front page most of the time.

Sorry if I made you angry, but this theme hadn't been updated in 3 years! I am just asking people to check out my theme because I work very hard and update it frequently.

Thank you

have to agree with you partially, but this thing with putting up adds on others icon-theme, is just not acceptable, and should cause you an timed ban on this page, in my opinion, but sad to see that you cant wait for people to discover your icon-theme.

no offence.

Kind Regards MikeDK

This is my preferred theme with ubuntu feisty but it doesn't work perfectly with the new version of gnome embedded with ubuntu hardy. I hope that you will keep this great theme alive with a new fix. Thanks.

Antoine.

Among other things hardy has managed to jack up, this theme is one of them. I hope a fix will be available soon! Thanks for your work.

how do you get the bottom bar, like it is in Mac OSX ? I'm running Fedora 7

Report

that bottom bar is the regular gnome panel, just set the background to transparent and put applications in it.

if you really want a mac like dock, try avant-window-navigator, you'll need compiz or beryl to make it work

Yeah, it's a shame the naming of system icons have changed... I sincerely hope someone will update this popular pack!

The new GNOME icon naming scheme makes a lot of these icons NOT work correctly with GNOME 2.16 or 2.18!

Since Saki appears to have abandoned this icon set, I'm guessing it's up to a third party to update this icon set.

I'm willing to go through and rename the affected icons, but I don't know where to find the proper information regarding what needs to be changed and how! :(
