Faenza
Icon Themes
Description:

This icon theme for Gnome provides monochromatic icons for panels, toolbars and buttons and colourful squared icons for devices, applications, folder, files and Gnome menu items.

An installation script let you choose the logo of your favourite distribution and the appearance of the main menu icon (Gnome/distrib, monochrome/colour).

Several themes are included to fit with light or dark panels, menus and toolbars.

Please read the README file for useful tips and known issues

Installation
Download the tar.gz file and extract it. In the new folder created, run the ./INSTALL script to choose the distribution logo (Ubuntu, by default) and the Gnome menu icon. If run as root, the script will copy the iconsets to /usr/share/icons to made them available to all users. Some default icons used by Rhythmbox and Dockmanager may be also replaced.
Run ./UNINSTALL as root to restore defaults icons.

Launchpad PPA
Faenza icon theme is available to install via a PPA repository. Open a terminal and run :
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tiheum/equinox
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install faenza-icon-theme

If there's not an icon for a program that you use alot and you want it to match, right click on Applications > Edit Menus, find your application. Double-Click on it. Click on the current icon, navigate to /usr/share/icons/Faenza (or Faenza-light, Faenza-dark). You're presented with a with a few folders: actions, apps, extras, places, status. Inside each folder is a sub-folder called "scaleable". In the "scaleable" folders is a range of higher def icons. Just choose one which you are not currently using and you can apply it to the application that you DO frequent. Just a tip from a noob :)

I can't get the IBus mono icon to work in the Gnome panel. It should be displaying the mono 22x22 ibus.png but it's still showing the blue "i" icon.

Hello.
When using Faenza-Dark, the panel icon for parcellite is the black icon from the Faenza theme, instead of a white one.
I'm using latest PPA version.

The icon is on the Home page too, besides the application, the play arrow in the box...

Gnome-Shell uses "symbolic icons" in the system status area for bluetooth, the laptop battery, presence etc. They're supposed to be monochromatic as far as I know. Since the shell panel is black by default, I use the Faenza-Dark theme with supposedly light panel icons - still the shell's status icons are dark and barely recognizable. The g-s developers told me Faenza is somehow missing the light "symbolic icons" so that the dark ones appear in the status area.

Could you investigate into this? I'd be happy to test changes if you don't use gnome-shell.

I think you could simply download the file, extract it wherever and extact both Faenza and Faenza-Dark .tar.gzs on ~/.icons.

Icons are ugly! and they don't really fit :/

them and the mouse icon (as shown in Compiz Config) - just don't seem to fit :(

The two first icons I mentioned are especially ugly. Otherwise I love the theme for the most part, but those just kill it for me :/
