[ FAQ ]

question: the buttons for the window border being on the left,
is that a theme thing or can that be configured somewhere?

Answer: ( original tutorial by -fissy. )

using the "run program" action or a terminal, start gconf by typing:

gconf-editor

and hitting enter.

This program is a bit like the registry editor for windows.

In the tree on the left you need to go to /apps/metacity/general/

There is then a key in the right pane called "button_layout"

edit this key so that it reads:

CODE
close,minimize,maximize:menu

or
CODE
close,maximize,minimize:menu

enjoy!

I just love this theme :P but I still wonder what menubar is used in those pictures?

If the guy who made this theme would tell what menubar he used, then that would be great :) and perhaps share it with us others?

With the help of a friend, I've reconstructed the tarballs that people are having trouble downloading. You can grab a copy here:

Just an observation, check the release date of the theme and look at the author's details. I guess the auther has already stop develop this theme. And he also stopped checking this page. By checking on his info I found that he already said that the top menu bar *was* in development in 2004.

BTW, the icon dock is using gDesklets.

I'm just wondering about this top osxish menu bar which to me makes the difference . Does it really work or is it just à gimped/photoshoped pic you made ??? If it actually does work, PLEASE tell us how to get it working on our desks ! Thx by advance ...

The top OSXish menubar was a program DannyWu was working on, he panned to release it, but AFAICT some of the gnome developpers (it's rumored they were sent by M$) told Danny to stop making that app or they would talk to the boss (BillG) and get Danny jailed or finned. And Danny is no longer working on that app.

I use this theme, the only thing that atm i havent got working is the top menu, so and it looks identical (except the menu) so i dont doubt that this is a mac theme for gnome

I use it too, the only problem I have is I don't have a "Computer" icon under my "Places" drop down menu. Is this normal?

I'm curious as to how in the hell you managed to time the screenshot to 1300 hours, to the very second?

Also, how is it you're running this but can't supply an URL for the application?

Some of us would appreciate a clarification of how you made this theme, despite the fact that I don't particularly like it.

Report

i think toby is right.
why cant you give us the url where this program is?
is it only a mac?

Report

I may be wrong, but after looking closer at the screenshot, I'm left to believe that the screenshot is of nothing but a Macintosh running Nautilus, Gimp etc. and therefor has very little to do with Gnome, let alone Linux.
On top of this, the theme has several problems, one being the obvious font-color used on active tabs; white doesn't go well with light blue.
Same goes for the metacity theme.
