[ FAQ ]

question: the buttons for the window border being on the left,
is that a theme thing or can that be configured somewhere?

Answer: ( original tutorial by -fissy. )

using the "run program" action or a terminal, start gconf by typing:

gconf-editor

and hitting enter.

This program is a bit like the registry editor for windows.

In the tree on the left you need to go to /apps/metacity/general/

There is then a key in the right pane called "button_layout"

edit this key so that it reads:

CODE
close,minimize,maximize:menu

or
CODE
close,maximize,minimize:menu

enjoy!

Nice theme, but I'm also curious about how you got your desktop looking the way it does.

I have to concur that this is a boss theme, and I also would like to know how you did what you did with the top menu bar and drop shadow, as well as the soft corners of the top menu bar (I'm guessing that it was an image edit, but I'm not certain), and where did you get the OSX-style launcher for Gnome? I've downloaded the ksmoothdock for KDE, but that's exactly the issue - it only runs under KDE.

Thanks in advance.

I would love to be able to get the bottom launcher bar to show. Right now when I minimize my windows they drop completely off the screen. But just to tag along with a couple others, it would be awesome if you could post how you made your desktop look the way it looks right now with the launcher bar, top menu bar, etc....
Thank you, I love this theme!

There is no "~/.icons" directory in Slackware. Please make a note that the proper directory is "/usr/share/icons/," which is where the "Rodent" icons already are.

mv MacOS-X /usr/share/icons

Hello, I installed your theme recently.

It's really great! But I also found that some filetypes, such as ms word and abiword documents, have wrong icons (they looked like a folder, instead of documents). If this theme does not contain specila icons for these filetypes, why the corresponding ones in default theme are not be used instead?

Thank you.

hi,
very nice desktop.
Where you got the upper variable toolbar. I think it's a very nice feature of Mac OS and i would like to have it for linux, too.

Perhaps you could make a list, what tools and other things you are using to make your desktop look like this.

Thanks, I didn't know about engage .. but there is a gdesklet that allows you to build a similar launchbar. I was asking about the top taskbar .. the application's (GIMP's) taskbar is integrated into the gnome taskbar, like MacOSX. Thats what I want to know more about, I find that pretty useful. Saves desktop space if you have two taskbars in the screen.

I think the original mac icons are higher resolution (128x128 i think) cause the folder icon does not look too good. do you have them at higher res ?

Also how did you make the pannel bar and the icons to grow when you move the mouse over...

everything else rocks !

Hello,

Thank you for the theme. However, I am not able to download icons and themes. Is this something that has been disabled? If so, can it be enabled for some time. The operation times out when I try to download.

Also, I hope downloading them will give me the docking bar as shown in the screen shot.

Once again, thank you very much for this wonderful work.

Thanks,
V

I've installed the theme and it looks very good. However I have a small problem. The colors and icons are ok but menus, scrollbars, etc don't seem to change. The same problem occurs with every theme I use. Menus and scrollbars remain the same. Any suggestions?

I figured out that every gtk 1 application is fine as of the appearance. But gtk2 doesn't seem to work. I have installed gtk2-engines with its dependencies. I'm on Fedora Core 3. What am I doing wrong? :(

I really do wonder how did you make the top panel to have the menus of the currently focused app, like it is in Mac OS.

If you explain it will be great:)

And thanks for the great job.

Hi, I like this theme very much!
I have found a file type with unsupported icon, eg. for links like these I have setup in Nautilus bookmarks:

file:///var/mail/menteco
file:///var/log/dmesg
file:///proc/fb

Here they show as a big raw grey page. May be you can add some nice icon for this filetype in the next version!

Cheers
