MediterraneanNight Series
GTK3 Themes
Description:

MediterraneanNight Series 2.03

12 Themes for Gnome 3.6.x and 3.8.x

* IMPORTANT *
- GTK2 theme uses gtk2-engines-murrine and gtk2-engines-pixbuf
- Inside the theme folder (MediterraneanNight) there is a readme.txt file with some really simple instructions to customize the theme (styles for nautilus, 4 tab styles, metacity buttons)
- Ubuntu 12.10 comes by default with gnome 3.6 and nautilus-3.4 (though you can upgrade to nautilus-3.6), but if you have nautilus-3.4, you must set the theme for nautilus-3.4, as explained in the readme.txt

- Almost all the themes are the same, varying between each of them only the color scheme and some bitmaps, which provides an opportunity for the more restless to create your own theme with few changes.

Take for example the series MediterraneanTribute

Known issues:
- qBitTorrent with MediterraneanGrayDark.

The default installation of the package gtk2-engines, not install you really need, which is this:
Murrine GTK2 engine
gtk-murrine-engine-0.98.2-3fc19

- MediterraneanNight also support nautilus-3.4. (see readme.txt)
---------------------------------
* Select style for nautilus *
---------------------------------
Edit the file ../MediterraneanNight/gtk-3.0/gtk.css

go to the last line of the file, there are seven options for nautilus:
Nautilus 3.6.x for gnome-shell 3.6.x and/or unity (by default)
@import url("nautilus36.css");

3 options for nautilus 3.4.x (gnome-shell)
1.- "gnome-nautilus34-gray.css" (nautilus sidebar and toolbar dark gray)
2.- "gnome-nautilus34-light.css" (nautilus sidebar and toolbar light)
3.- "gnome-nautilus34-gray-light.css" (nautilus sidebar dark gray and toolbar light)

3 options for nautilus 3.4.x (UNITY)
1.- "unity-nautilus34-gray.css"
2.- "unity-nautilus34-light.css"
3.- "unity-nautilus34-gray-light.css"

Is it possible to modify this MediterraneanNight theme to show the stepper in the Scrollbar?

If so, can you suggest some edits & whether I need any additional .png files for this?

Wonderful theme btw!

Fantastic themes! But I have the same problem like m4rc3l (I use MediterraneanDarkest and some search or other text boxes went to black). How can it fixing? Sorry for my english.

I've seen this problem, for instance, in opera search textbox as well, however it happens in a low number of times.

I moved to the White Night, the boxes change the color according the main color combination themes so you get gray boxes :p

Besides that the themes are polished, stylish and beautiful, voted up and keep it up, love your work :)

I`m using MediterraneanDarkest theme on Ubuntu 12.04 gnome classic, there is an glitc with Firefox, after applying the theme, the search box on google start page went black (and some other elements on other web pages), wich wouldnt be a problem except the typing font is also black. Any way of fixing this??

Hi there, I've been using your themes for a while in F19. However, after F20 update I guess that something changed in gnome so it doesn't look as nice as it was. I'm not sure but might the theme need a little update?

Excellent theme, looking very professional. The only small issue i found is in vlc player, more preciselly in the Adjustments and Effects window available when pressing ctrl+e or from the Tools menu. If one looks close enough will see there is a small offset just under the window's top border under the close window button(if he has the window buttons on the right). Excellent work, congratulations.

...there another issue with the Cinnamon desktop: inside the default System Settings, the buttons from the bottom of the window (Switch to advanced mode, Close) are only visible with the text.

Yeah, I'd love a 3.10 update, especially if the new GTKHeaderBar could be made dark in the MediterraneanNight "Dark" themes :)

For now I'm just coping, because it isn't unusable as it is, and this is the only decent theme with dark menus and mid-shade windows that I can find!

Does this version of the theme already work for you in Gnome 3.10?

Apps like Nautilus and Gnome Tweak Tool that use the new GtkHeaderBar method don't have a border or background and so they look a little like the window manager has crashed.

I mainly seem to use GTK2 apps and GTK3 apps that don't use the HeaderBar, so it looks a little ugly but it is better than the eye-searing brightness and bulkiness of Adwaita or the compromise of other themes (like Greybird, which is nice enough on most apps but not as good on the Polly Twitter client).

I managed to tweak a few bits last night by stealing some CSS snippets from Adwaita, but it was slow progress because it isn't well documented.

Personally, for now I've added this to gtk-widget.css. It is a bit hacky but looks better:

I've moved to Gnome 3.12 now and various other bits have changed that make even the fixed version look ugly again.

*sigh*

Why do so few people make nice "dark but not too dark" themes? I don't want "so dark I have to squint" and I don't want "so bright that my eyes burn". I just want "mid-tones with dark menu bars".

Actually, found a fix!

In gtk-widgets.css, find "* {", replace "background-color: @…;" value with "background-color: none;". In ".window-frame {" add "background-color: @theme_bg_color;" and all seems to be good!

Now to see if I can get dark buttons in the header/title bar/whatever-they-call-it…

Okay, your gist and this gist seem to fix it all for me and give a reasonable (if not 100% perfect) coverage for the title bars with dark buttons:

https://gist.github.com/IBBoard/10542991

(I think that includes everything, except the two edits I mentioned in the other comment, which you seem to have to make in the original places for some reason)
