Dropline Neu!
Individual Icons
Description:

Just like I promised, the first (public) preview release of the new Dropline NEU! icon set. What’s new about this one?, well… everything!!.

I’ll start by saying that the icons have been resized to 48×48 and in this resize process every icon got modified :) . This release is compliant with FreeDesktop.org’s Icon Naming Specification (just like Giøn). It also includes 22×22, 24×24, 48×48 and 128×128 PNGs (for those of you who prefer use PNGs instead of SVG for performance) 16×16 is coming in the final release.

Also, this time it doesn’t has all the apps icons it used to have, I’ve only implemented the basic ones, the rest will get in there, they just need some time. It uses symlinks instead of duplicating files (and filesize of course)… previous version had about 470 icons, this new version has over 3000!! (and imagine how many they’ll be once I finish every app icon).

Mimetypes are in development too, there are no small versions like 22×22 nor 24×24, so you’ll get resized SVGs for those.

Well, these icons are GPL, they can include them if they want to :)

Hi,

I guess before it can be included in a distro, they would need the style guidelines so they could add icons themselves.

...Hows the guidlines coming along? Any progress?

Cheers,
Gavin

Do you think you could make this a public project and release the style guidelines like they did with Tango? Then others could work on it and submit their icons and ideas, but you would still have the final say what gets in and what doesn't.

By the way, I love the icons. There the best I've ever seen.

Could you please add a distributor-logo.png for ubuntu?

That is the only thing this theme needs.

Looks great. Will you consider porting this to KDE at some point in time in the future? Nice work.

Pablo Fabregat, a friend, is supposed to port these to KDE. He's been working on it for some time now, but he doesn't have a release yet.

I don't have KDE installed, so I can't port them...

ertz, your icon themes are simply jaw dropping, you are putting that tango iconset thing to shame... thanks for your great work

Thanks :) That's really not my objective (putting tango into shame), but its really good to hear you like these :)

Very nice. Looks like I've found my new favorite theme. :D

The only thing I'd change is the orange folders. They don't really go with anything else, but no hurry, because they look OK enough.

I use GNU/Linux on the job so I'm looking at the Gnome Desktop for 8 or more hours a day. This icon set makes it very easy to do that.

In addition, I can show all the Windows users around me just how beautiful a Linux desktop can be.

The icons look real good, but standard installation doesn't work. They appear in the list but switching to them just makes all my icons the standard GNOME icons. I tried to remove all the 16x16 references in index.theme (as there are no 16x16 icons), with no luck.

What about untar them to the .icons directory?

tar -xvjpf .tar.bz2 -C ~/.icons

Hm, strange.. that worked fine. :) Sorry, maybe I was doing something stupid. Great icons!
