No problemo bro. Hey by the way did you ever figure out that black box issue. It seems that I have the gray screen and a few times that I logged in I had to hit the space bar for the bootloader to continue then I no longer needed to do that as the boot loader did it by itself automatically, the only thing that I never resolved was that black box issue. I do not get the gray box in the middle where all that loading information appears.

Did notice that he tries to start in 1152x864, but I have typed vga=791 in menu.lst

Fount a file /etc/usplash.conf
Changed the resolution there, it worked once, when I turned the pc off, but when trying to boot again, it's the same problem.

I use 1280x800 i used to have the same problem, it didn't work.

I edited the /etc/usplash.conf and made xres=1024 and yres=768. And then updated the system booting process by 'sudo update-initramfs -u'. Then it worked!.

Looks really nice.

Any chance of upping the resolution on this? I would be interested in getting it in 1680x1050 for wide screen.

I experienced this problem as well. And when that happened I was like dam I am screwed, because there are other users in my distro. So I think you mistake as to why you came to a halt while loading is that during the terminal when you did that 'sudo update-initramfs -u' which I think is the last step. You might have closed the terminal very prematurely or too quickly. I think the author should have explained this to newbies like me. Becuase when I entered that last command the terminal moved on to the following line as if it was waiting for me to enter something else, but instead it was updating something, my guess "initramfs" the and I did not wait for the prompt to come on. I just closed the terminal.

I do not know what distro you have, but I will tell you what I did. If you hit the escape key you will get the choice of which kernel to run. I think that by default the one that you are having problems with is the first option that it would load. By hitting the escape key prior to loading the default kernel choose the following kerner use the arrow down to make a selection. I tried using the recovery mode for the default or first one but it did not help. So then I used the third one. Again I do not know how you are set up. If you get in trying the installation process again but only change the first kernel and not the other ones. Basically do what you did at first in installing the process, but make sure that this time you wait for the prompt to come up. That is all I can tell you. If you need more of my input about my experience you can reach me at lionroar992000@yahoo.com. You can IM me I usually keep it open because sometimes I need it at work.

I installed this usplash theme per the instructions, but when I startup and shutdown, the text isn't there. What can I do to fix this? I am running Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn.

Which text can't you see? perhaps you mean the image? are you sure you followed the guide until end? i use feisty fawn too both with i386 version and amd64 and got no problem...

I mean I see the hand and the progress bar, but no text. As in, the part that says "Linux: the worlds most advanced operating system" and the rest of the text. The image is fine, though.

I'm using the i386 version, by the way.

Hi, I am using Ubuntu 6.06 and followed the instructions carefully without problems. The problem I have is that I have a black screen until almost the last part of the booting process. No image at all, just text (last part).

Any suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem I dont think it works with 6.06. I going to upgrade soon to Edgy or better and hopefully it will work then.

This works in FC6?
If it does how ??

Report

Embrace

You need Usplash to run it...if you are able to install usplash under fc6 you can even use this theme. I believe you should grab usplash sources and compile them because there are not rpm packages for usplash.

I believe not i'm sorry i don't even know what boot splash fedora uses...if you tell me the name of th boot splash i can see if i can do anything but i thunk's it would be quite difficult to convert everything.

I believe that FC6 uses a boot splash integrated in Grub. I cant find enything about splash or everything i found is related to grub.
I want to use that splash because i love it, i just love it
