can some one please post the line from menu.lst that is supposed to contain the vga=791. I think thats where I am going wrong.

Thanks in advance

Report

Embrace

You should add that string at the end of the line starting with 'kernel=' in your /boot/grub/menu.lst

If you want to configure just the kernel you use, add it only in the first not-commented (without #).

For example

title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.17-10-generic
root (hd0,4)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.17-10-generic root=/dev/hda5 ro quiet splash locale=en_EN
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.17-10-generic
boot

you should add it to this line

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.17-10-generic root=/dev/hda5 ro quiet splash locale=en_EN

which will become

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.17-10-generic root=/dev/hda5 ro quiet splash locale=en_EN vga=791

Are you sure you got the right resolution (1024x768)? You have to set it on yor menu.lst file

Hi!

With the last two Beta versions I just get a blank screen with the blinking cursor at the top. Alpha 3 used to work.

Here's some info:
Linux version 2.6.17-10-generic (root@terranova) (gcc version 4.1.2 20060928 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.1-13ubuntu5)) #2 SMP Tue Dec 5 22:28:26 UTC 2006 (Ubuntu 2.6.17-10.34-generic)

P4 1.8GHz
512MB SDRAM
GeForce 3 DDR VRAM.

Any clues?
Thanks!!!

Did you follow again the whole installation process?

However i'll install a 32bit system as soon as i can and i'll try it (now i'm on a 64bit the problem should be caused from different arch as i did not tested personally the 32bit)

Try doing "file *.so" on the object file you get out of the tarball. If you've got a 32-bit machine, make sure the .so isn't a 64-bit version. I had the same symptoms when I installed beta 1 and found that the .so was 64-bit. (See posts above about the links.)

Yep i believe it's the same problem. I think now it should work for everybody!

can you update the screenshot to show the second progress bar?

Report

Yep, just did it. Thanks for suggest!

PS: the second bar is just the old one in the top, a bit larger. In the animation it's gray (default color) when not charged. White when charged.

Hope you like it

Great looking theme. When I tried to download the latest version I found that the 0.1 Beta 1 link (non-AMD) also links to the AMD-64 .so, so I had to go back to Alpha 3 for a 32-bit version.

Report

Embrace

It's strange, whene i click the link i'm redirected to the right page. Can you try again and tell me if it still happens?

Report

Hunh, that's weird. I just tried all the beta links, versions 1 and 2, and all of them gave me an AMD 64-bit .so file.

This is from the 0.1 beta 2 link:
tom@ballyhoo:~/tmp$ file usplash-theme-fingerprint.so
usplash-theme-fingerprint.so: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, AMD x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), not stripped
tom@ballyhoo:~/tmp$ ls -l usplash-theme-fingerprint.so
-rwxr-xr-x 1 tom tom 2807010 2007-01-17 07:28 usplash-theme-fingerprint.so

I'll just use the source. Thanks.

And it just stop there, this is not a failure in your theme, but do u know how to fix this for any chance?

Thanks! and great theme!

Your Kernel is too old and i believe it does not support initramfs. I don't know how you should fix this and update your booting process succesfully.
I think you should refer to your own distro documentation or even ask for help in your community forum.

The most difficult thing in that case is the testing for me, as i have a 1280x1024 res. If you desire it, i can try to realize it, and then you can test it for me...
