I'm sorry but i have not been able to realize one which fits widescreens. Did you try the default version? is it too ugly?

As written in the top of description this just a port of an existing theme. So for credits, please follow the link to kde-look.

In that menu, what does the + sign next to an option mean? I have selected the default as the default but there is still a + next to another one. This might be stopping it working i guess.

No the '+' symbol just indicates that that was the default system theme. Just check that the '*' is in the right place...

How would I go about removing this theme? I like it but it may be slowing my boot process. Thus I would like to know how to remove it to determine if it was this or something else that increase my booting and log off time to minutes instead of seconds.

Thanks

Simply do

sudo update-alternatives --config usplash-artwork.so

then select the default usplash theme

I haven't tried it yet as I like to understand what I am doing.

I think the 10 is actually a priority number.

I've just installed galternatives a GUI front end in Ubuntu and it shows usplash as priority 10.

I have a general idea that the following is updating the usplash-artwork.so link in /etc/alternatives and /usr/lib/usplash

sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/lib/usplash/usplash-artwork.so usplash-artwork.so /usr/lib/usplash/usplash-theme-gray.so 10

But what is the 10 at the end of usplash-theme-gray.so? Is the command correct?

Is it possible to change it from "on the world" to "in the world". That kind of spelling error is a bit out of place in such a polished splash!

I would really like this to work as it looks really super cool from the screen shots.

I have applied everything in your instructions but it still doesnt work. I get a black blank screen until the login screen. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Squee

Have you set the correct resolution? Have you usplash succesfull installed (in case what distro are u using?) Did the install alternatives command give you ouput errors?

Report

I have followed your instructions as they are on this page. I dont understand much about it. I have added vga=791 to the kernel line my menu.lst file. I didnt get any obvious errors when following these commands.

Do I need to set the resolution elsewhere? other than in the menu.lst file?

I am using 6.06 Ubuntu linux with 2.6 Gnome I think.

Thanks
