...in spite of the fact you're using KDE. I liked version 3.x OK, but I tried KDE 4 once -- it's a joke. I moved to GNOME and Xfce pretty darn quick.

I read the comments here and I just felt so compelled to comment that I went to the hassle of registering (and yes it is a hassle!) . While I do feel Microsoft is evil, I see nothing wrong with creating Vista-like themes if you want to prove that Linux/Compiz (or BSD/Compiz or Solaris/Compiz?) can do anything Vista can do. Vista themes are also a great aid in helping some people to transition from the Microsoft to the path of light and goodness.

In fact, I came here because I followed the tutorial on YouTube on how to "Make Linux Look like Vista's Aero":

We have to admit that Vista Aero looks cool!! The advantage of Compiz is that we can have Aero looks and radically different looks too. Choice is where we sell Linux.

It's one of the Aurora wallpapers. I found it with a quick Google search one time.

I like the look of Vista and I emulate it on my desktop. I like the glassy stuff and the blues.

Anyone who wants to ridicule me can bite me.

All I know was that it was one of the files from the Vista Transformation pack for GNOME

Although I also think that Vista crap should not be on Linux world, but I think you did a good job... :)

Question: What's the name of the wallpaper that is in the screen cap?

Thanks. The font i'm using for the title bar is called "STOMP Zeroes" and is freely available in many places on the web.

msn-messenger, vista-like interface... why don't you install vista instead? Linux is linux, it must have his own ondividual look.

LOL. I use linux because I like linux, one great thing about it is that you can customize it to however you want it to look and behave. Liking the look of vista does not negate the attractive qualities of linux. If I actually wanted to use that piece of crap (Vista), I would fork over my hard earned cash to use it and would certainly not be contributing themes here to be shot down by ignorant people like yourself!

Everybody can copy from someone.
Do some own work.

Vista is not the only good look.

You're right about Vista not being the only good look. I just wanted to improve upon whatever vista-like themes were out there because I personally like the look of it, even if I dont like the OS itself.

As far as originality is concerned, this doesnt matter for me, I just want a theme which looks good. If you want something original, you are perfectly welcome to do it yourself. Its not as easy as it sounds.

As long as GNOME's appearance continues to be reminiscent of Windows ME, you really can't blame people for trying to escape it, even if that means generating poor imitations of prior art.

Posting unconstructive criticism of people's best efforts, rather than improving your own or moving on and continuing your search for artwork that suits your machine, seems to me like a complete and utter waste of time.
