Description:

Adds Google Calendar events on your desktop. Supports any amount of different calendars, updates automatically and has many configuration options. Themeable and lightweight.

EASY INSTALL FOR UBUNTU

1. If Screenlets PPA is not already enabled on your system, either from software sources manager or terminal add ppa:screenlets-dev/ppa to the list of software sources (see http://www.screenlets.org/index.php/Download for help).

2. Refresh package list and install googlecalendar-screenlet from your favourite package manager or by clicking automatic installation link provided below.

If you don't use Screenlets PPA you have to manually install python-gdata package 2.0.10 or later (see http://code.google.com/p/gcalscreenlet/wiki/Installation for further instructions).

MORE ABOUT THE SCREENLET

Notice, that you can import basically any local or remote ICS calendar through your Google account. Since calendars are parsed by Google Data API, the representation of data should be highly accurate.

You can help to translate the Screenlet to your language at https://translations.launchpad.net/indiv-screenlets/trunk/+pots/googlecalendar-screenlet/.

You can submit fixes or enhancements for the Screenlet at https://launchpad.net/~indiv-screenlets-dev.

Please feel free to submit any new themes for the screenlet!

Hi,
some month ago I published a screenlet for Google Calendar, too.
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/PhantCalendar?content=120461

I experienced exactly the same problems regarding the "loss" of the password.
Applying the patch did not really work for me:

It feels like playing Roulette. One time it works, on other locations it does not.

This can drive one really insane.

Good luck and CU

Do you have other screenlets using accounts with the same login name also? This could be also a problem, because passwords are registered to Screenlets as a whole, I believe, and different screenlets will just overwrite the password for the same login name. If this is not the case, I have no idea what could it be. What system is it, anyway? Maybe the patch needs to be patched, you can specify the problem on the Launchpad page of the patch, maybe somebody can diagnose.

Thank you for voting!! Anyway, I suppose, this must be because python-gdata is not installed as specified under description field above...

It was installed already, plus, I just went and re-installed it, and still nothing. I am running Linux Mint 9, based on Ubuntu 10.04?? Any ideas?

I tried it just now under Linux Mint 9. Works fine. Made a screenshot http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/1247/kuvatmmis.png.

It does not work with the default python-gdata from Ubuntu repository. You have to have at least version specified on the description field. There are also instructions how to get it for ubuntu.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:damnvid/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install python-gdata

Have you provided correct Google account? Password is correct?

I just tried adding your PPA, but still nothing. I am going to be trying a fresh install of the OS in the next day or two, and I will try again. I would love for this to work. I just don't even get anything on the screen, I can't even get to a point of putting information like passwords into anywhere. I will try again later. It looks cool though.

I seem to be unable to have it show events from my Google account. Is there anything I might need to do prior to using this?

Please, be more specific!

Have you entered your login information at the properties menu? Do you have calendars enabled at Google Calendar site (i. e. not "hidden")? Have you installed the latest version of python-gdata? Have you looked at http://code.google.com/p/gcalscreenlet/wiki/Installation for instructions to install it? What does it say when you run the screenlet from terminal "python .screenlets/GCal/GCalScreenlet.py"?

I have found a lot of problems in the screenlet during past days and fixed the majority of them, but not being able to display calendars at all, this I hear for the first time.

I apologize for being so vague. Ok, here is the problem. I've installed the screenlet, setup the Calender in Google, got the Python package, and put my information into the calender. It displays the Date but none of my entered events.

It's still to vague to think of anything. I suggest you should run it from terminal "python .screenlets/GCal/GCalScreenlet.py" and make a new issue and post the information displayed in terminal on http://code.google.com/p/gcalscreenlet/issues/list. Then I could have some idea where it goes wrong. Also you should be specific about what you did and how did the program respond to you. Step-by step.
