Description:

This screenlet can display many system information and control some of them:

- CPU load
- multi CPU/core load
- list of more CPU consuming processes
- memory and swap load
- network usage (no configuration required)
- Wifi ESSID and signal quality (no configuration required)
- all temperature, fan and electric sensors (support lm_sensors, temperature from ACPI sensors, temperature from nvidia driver and nvclock, temperature and fan from ibm acpi, and hard drive temperature from hddtemp)
- hard disk usage
- Analog and digital clock
- Battery state and global capacity
- several system information like: local IP, external IP, uptime, login time, user name, host name, kernel version, KDE version, Gnome version, total disk space, total free disk space

The last version of this screenlet allows you to control system parameters (fan speed, GPU speed, etc...)

Design need to be improved, and new functionalities added.

I know I haven't provided any news or update, and haven't integrated patches for a very long time now. I'm really sorry for that. I will try to correct that as soon as possible.

very clean very nice looking screenlets! If I couldbe so bold as to suggest a slightly larger nvidia logo for the sensor?

also. it will not show my wireless

im using F8 with intel3945abg wireless card

Let me know if im just missing some sort of config or tweak to make, or if I can provide more information to assist.

thanks! and keep up the great work!

I will look at it for nVidia logo.

For wifi info:
When your wireless connection is disconnected, can you execute these commands in a terminal:
cat /proc/net/wireless > wireless.txt
iwconfig > iwconfig.txt

Then zip wireless.txt and iwconfig.txt and send them to me by e-mail. My e-mail address is in the README file.
I may be able to fix this problem with all these information.

thank you very much for creating that theme. I'm new to Linux but today i found this theme and took the time to play around with Compiz to install that theme.
But there are two bugs i recognized that far:
1) http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/2494/namenloszq2.png

The text above seems to be chopped. the rest above should T2080 @ 1,73 GhZ
Another thing is, would it be possible to chose the prozessor instead of throughing them together without any description?

2) When i deactivate my wireless connection the screenlet for wirless network just disappears instead of showing it like in the picture, that wireless ist deactivated.

The last thing is, when i have everything activated, my vlc screen just stays black :<. But I think its more a issue wuth compiz, because when i deactivate it everything works fine. Will be trieing it with Beryl when i find the time.

Thanks again for your nice screenlet.

V0.12 of WaterMark allows you to change screenlet size.
With this new option, you will be able to see the complete text of your CPU type.

1) I will check if I can do something, but by default I need to limit screenlet size to avoid excess memory usage, since all sessions of screelents have the same size.

For processors, it can be possible to create a single core secreenlet. Hovewer, multi core are displayed with CPU0 at the top, then CPU1, CPU2, CPU3 etc... I may not be able to give more information than CPU0 , CPU1 label, at this time, so it's not so much useful.

2) When your wireless connection is disconnected, can you execute these commands in a terminal:
cat /proc/net/wireless > wireless.txt
iwconfig > iwconfig.txt

Then zip wireless.txt and iwconfig.txt and send them to me by e-mail. My e-mail address is in the README file. Please, do the same thing when you are connected, it may help me to fix the bug.
I may be able to fix this problem with all these information.

You probably have a nvidia video card, which may explain your black window problem.
If you use ubuntu, just edit /usr/bin/compiz and change INDIRECT="no" to INDIRECT="yes".
If you start compiz with your own command, then add the following parameter: --indirect-rendering

It should fix your problem. It worked for me.

Hi,

This is really great work. The idea is very good. You have done a great job in preparing this.

I need your help in solving a problem. While using the desklet I have noted the following.

a) In the earlier version I was not getting the memory. But with the update I am now getting the white bar. But the problem remains same. It is always showing

ram:0%
swap:0%

b) Being a new user I could not find any Compiz desklets for top 5 processes in compiz desklets section. May I request you to develop one where top 5 processes are shown.

Great work.

Thanks,
Ray

Please, could you run the following command:
cat /proc/meminfo > mem.txt

Then zip the newly created file (mem.txt) then send it to me by e-mail.
My e-mail adresse is in the README file of the software.

Thank you for your suggestion regarding the top 5 process report.

There is a memory leak somewhere in this program. if you let the computer on for a long period of time with this desklet running it will eat up your memory until the desklet crash. When I left my computer yesterday the memory meter said i was using 25% of it (2GB), today when I checked my pc this morning it said 56% of memory being used. So memory usage double overnight just because I left this desklet running.
Other than that, I really love this desklet. I hope you will fix the memory leaking problem.

I will check if I find a way to fix such problem with python.
If you have any knowledge on how to find memory leaks in python, your help is welcome.

It looks like the leak is in the calls to create_layout(), apparently that object doesn't get GC'd correctly. I've emailed an updated file to you that I think will fix it.

p.s., this is a great screenlet!

This is a screenlet. It means it needs the screenlets environment installed to work.
To install screenlets, go to http://www.screenlets.org/index.php/FAQ and follow instruction.

Then, to install WaterMark screenlet, create a .screenlets folder with the following command:
mkdir ~/.screenlets

Then uncompress Watermark screenlet in this new folder (set "view->show hidden files" in your file manager to be able to see .screenlets folder in your home directory).
Now,you should have WaterMark folder in .screenlets folder.

To run the screenlet, go in you preference folder and run "screenlets" or run "screenlets-manager" from a terminal.
You may have an error message on start, but it's not a problem.

Now, select WaterMark screenlet, then set "Automatically start on login" and "Enable/Disable" option.
A session of the screenlet should appear on your desktop. Right click on the icon to display a menu with properties options. Now configure it the way you want.

Since a session of the screenlet display only one information at a time, to display all information you want, you have to launch several sessions of the screenlet by double clicking it in the screenlet manager, then configure each of them the way you want.

For Nvidia GPU info, you need to have Nvidia proprietary drivers installed, and the nvidia-settings software available in your path.

For CPU sensors, maybe you need to install lm-sensors, then run sensors-detect to configure it.
