Description:

Script to set a Picture as the wallpaper of Gnome Desktop.

As pointed out by gust5av, you can drag an image with the middle mouse button onto the desktop to set it as the wallpaper.

This is hence meant to help people who lack a middle mouse button - most laptop users.

*The script sets the selected file as the wallpaper, only if it is an image; else it gives a unobtrusive notification.

... hold Alt, drag image icon to desktop, will popup option "Set as background".

No need for this script ;)

I think there is a need for this script. When I'm working, the desktop is obscured by Firefox etc. There is no way to drag something onto a desktop that you can't see. This script makes it easy.

You can already middle-click on a wallpaper, drag it to the desktop and then choose "Set as background" in nautilus...

I couldn't get the "Set as desktop Background" option in Nautilus. Opening Eog , just to set a picture as Wallpaper is kinda unnecessary - not to mention the Appearance window which pops up later.
