I'm a bit of a gnome newb, and I don't know how to change the splash screen. This splash would fit perfectly with the theme I've got going, and it's really cool, so your help would be apriciated.

hei,

your splash should be in:

/usr/share/pixmaps/splash

just rename the new one with the same name as the default. Alternatively, you may use tools like gtweakui:
http://gtweakui.sourceforge.net/screen.php
