usplash for debian binary
INSTALL:
1. sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/lib/usplash
2. sudo cp redsplash.so /usr/local/lib/usplash/redsplash.so
3. sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/lib/usplash/usplash-artwork.so usplash-artwork.so /usr/local/lib/usplash/redsplash.so 55
5. sudo update-alternatives --config usplash-artwork.so
6. sudo dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-$(uname -r)
7. sudo reboot

Hi!

I installed the unstable usplash package on debian etch (with all dependencies) and followed the wiki-tutorial on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/USplashCustomizationHowto
(only steps 1 and 3-5 with the pre-compiled file from here) but at boottime it only says (*lots* of times):

open: No such file or directory

what could be the problem?

I added directions to the description above. follow the directions and all should be well. Make sure you have usplash installed and working correctly first though.

where is the png?

btw is this program suitable for debian testing?

the image is compiled into the .so file.

I am using this with Etch (testing) right now..
