Earth Sunrise Plymouth Theme

Description:

Another modification of the animated plymouth theme made by Andre "Osku" Schmidt.

Background Image is grabbed from the Hubble Space telescope. Earth image is something I found on 'DeviantArt.com' by `dinyctis. Sun image from a NASA photo (with a little bit of Gimp action for good measure).

check the 'readme' for installation help

or

Download the deb package by fellow augmenter 'inameiname'.. cheers dude.

I love it. After fixing my Plymouth resolution and rebooted your creation floored me. It was beautiful. I can't come up with any suggestions about improving it cause it's fine the way it is.

Later....

I made a short little video of this for the fun of it. Maybe it'll better help to show what it looks like. Not great quality, but good enough.

I also linked it to Andrew from WebUpd8, telling him about your version, as I think it's the prettiest out there right now. Thanks again.

Thanks to all who have downloaded this Theme so far, and to all how have voted me up, and the kind words that have come my way.

I'm going to re-work the whole Theme when I get the chance to re-incorporate things that are missing, like the dialogue box for when the OS want to do the 27th boot Health check, (a little disconcerting at present when it sits there for 10 mins giving no clue to whats happening)

many thanks to all

This is the most awesome Plymouth I've seen. Now I can surprise my friends since the boot.

I cant access to mediafire, can you just use the gnome-look host to upload files ?

As an alternative for now, if the deb file is what you wish use the link at the bottom of my first comment on here. It's a 2shared link. Just click the 'save to PC' on the page and that'll give you the file.

Wish I could have it hosted on the Gnome-Look site, but 700k is the max you can leave on their server :(

I've added the 'inameiname' alternate mirror to the links aboves. Hope this works for you.

You can use the Plymouth manager (https://launchpad.net/plymouth-manager/+download) to change easily plymouth themes! Perfect for this theme...

Btw: Nice theme!

To change, yes, but one thing I would love it to be able to do (or something that can do it) is to be able to preview what they will look like. That would make them easier to be either liked or hated. Maybe someday somebody will figure that out. hehe

Nice...looks pretty.

Oh, and I threw it into a debian package for you, in the same way as I did with my version of 'Space-Sunrise', as found here:

http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Space-Sunrise+Plymouth+Splash?content=129678

It works just fine for me. Enjoy.

PS. I noticed you tweaked some of the configuration in the 'earth-sunrise.script'. After looking at it on startup, I cannot figure out what you tweaked. So to appease my ever-thinking mind, may I ask what you tweaked?

Here is the deb file:

Cheers for the doing the deb package, will make it easier for most people to install, but 'the more we make these things idiot proof, the better idiot we make'. Just like I learned a lot from yours and other themes out there, I hope someone else learns a bit more about their linux OS from what I put out into this vast info-sphere of ours.

Surprised you can't see the difference with the startup. The change to the script was the animation for the ubuntu logo fade-in with secondary fade burst at about 80% progress. Obviously I added an alternate method for the background image aspect.

luv the original theme, but graphically it did nothing for me.

cheers

Well indeed, zeckman1138, indeed. There are certainly lots and lots of idiots out there; things are just becoming so much easier to use nowadays; truly for dummies. I remember when people actually did math in their heads, instead of relying on a calculator (now their mobiles) for everything. :P

Anyway, you're welcome. While I didn't create this theme, only remade it using Gimp and such, I do very much like it. But I do like the much better, more realistic look yours is. So thanks for making me have another thing to think about, to decide if I should change all of my computers that I use/make to use yours instead. Hehe

I'm hopeful in the future the splash screen will allow for actual videos. Think of all the variety that can come there.

Oh, and as for your version, I've looked at it again and can see the difference. Neat. I guess I wasn't looking hard enough. Nice. I did notice the alternate method for the background. I'm sure that will be tweaked in future versions by folks.
