Description:

My first try in usplashs.

Wallpaper:
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Ubluetu?content=77180

Ubuntu logo is from standard ubuntu usplash.

The progressbar is animated.

Supported resolutions:

800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024
1280x800, 1440x900, 1680x1050

Other resolutions might be supported if demanded.

Installation

The following tool is probably the most user-friendly method.

$ sudo apt-get install startupmanager

Be sure to set the resolution to 1024x768.

Add the blue_ubuntu/hardy_usplash.so file under Manage usplash themes

Widescreen

Startupmanager doesn't support those resolutions so you have to do something else.

Start by adding the .so file as previous described. Don't mind the resolution.

$sudo apt-get install hwinfo
$sudo hwinfo --framebuffer

Look for your optimal resolution 24bit.
Remember the mode number of that resolution. (On my system 1440x900 24 bit is mode 0x365)

$sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

Look for your kernel, a line like this

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-12-generic xxx ro splash vga=0x365

Change the vga parameter to your framebuffer mode.

$sudo gedit /etc/usplash.conf

Change to your resolution

Hope you enjoy it.

I've uploaded the not-that-well-commented source.

I love all of your other splash screens.
With both Blue versions .4 & .7, rather than looking like the others, it looks like a video test feed - a bunch of colors, some grey scale patterns, a few ovals, a square, an oval.
I can see a type of progress bar with a black box underneath.
(I'm not kidding. I'm totally serious about this.)
I know it's weird.

Any suggestions on how to get this fixed? Blue is my favorite color.

I know that screen. ;) Got it a couple of times myself.

Are you sure you use the right version (32bit or 64bit)?

Have you used startupmanager to install the usplash?

the title of the file is
blue_hardy_big_usplash_i386.so.tar.gz

I believe that's the 32 bit?

I've downloaded it probably 3 times so I'm sure I've downloaded the 32 bit file.
Running Hardy 32 bit.

I did use start-up manager to install the file.

Your other files work just great.

Strange.

Thanks for your help.

I'm pretty sure that both the archives contain the 64-bit version.

Both of them give me the following error when I run usplash-switcher:

Loading /usr/local/lib/usplash/blue_ubuntu_big_usplash.so failed: /usr/local/lib/usplash/blue_ubuntu_big_usplash.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

I've tried to recompile the 32bit version. Try a fresh download.

Would it be possible for you to release sources? I'm learning how to make usplashes, and since I like the style and available resolutions of your themes I would like to work on something based on it.

I've uploaded the source. Don't think it's too good commented though.

and also, I'm really glad you liked my wallpaper color-mod enough to make this. Have you given any thought to including other colors as well?

Progress bar looks just like the aurora engine - that is what you were going for, right?

Well, if so, good because that is so gonna be my default theme from now on, along with this! :D

It still looks to be the same size as before and the progress bar is above the text and to the left hand side of the screen.

I can't find any immediate errors. Doesn't that there's none. ;)

Are you sure the resolution is supported in your framebuffer, and that you have added the right mode to the grub menu?

I'll see. It's just that I haven't had any trouble like this with any of the other Usplash images I've used.
