Description:

Here are two icon sets with different flavors:

(1) nouveGnome is a colorful icon set compatible with most light GTK themes.

(2) nouveGnomeGray is a gray icon set made for dark GTK themes. Being mostly hollow and light gray, its icons are designed for use ONLY against sufficiently dark backgrounds. It is made based on nouveGnome.

Made lots of symlinks for non-Gnome, GTK-based DE's (which I had neglected before).

Hello Rahul,

I checked the file index.theme from gnome-icon-theme_3.6.0-0ubuntu1_all.deb and the format is the same as before. So the theme should work with 3.6. Probably gnome-tweak-tool has some problem with 3.6. In Ubuntu, its version is still 3.5.5.

Whould you please set the theme directly from dconf-editor > org > gnome > desktop > interface > icon-theme and thell me the result? My distro is Debian and gnome 3.6 won't come to it until its main bugs are fixed.

Could you make a version with following colors for the folder icons:
#cc6600 - d6850a for the top corner
and
#f9df20 - #ffe22c - #ffd634 for the larger bottom part. I'm asking you because your theme seems to be only *.png files which are not easy to edit.

In the directory 'nouveGnome/Alternative/places/' you could find SVG icons and especially, 'folder.svg'. Open it with Inkscape, change its colors as you like and export appropriate PNG images. Read the explanation file inside the folder "Alternative".

I'm a fan of his GnomishDark and now of nouveaugnome.
I tried many fancy new icon themes but always came back to NouveGnome for it's elegance and clarity.

I remember thinking: "oh no not just another gnome icon theme". I really hated the idea of this icon theme about two years ago. Nowadays I must say that this theme has become a number one choice for me ever since I rediscovered it about two months ago.

You have done an excellent work with this one and I really do hope you keep maintaining the icon set for years to come.

I'll maintain these sets as long as I use Linux. And Linux will always be my main OS :)

Ha ha! Linux is superb. There's no rational reason why one should go to another OS from Linux.

can you explain me the license of this icon pack. i really see potential in this icons and i would like to use it at my online shop. so, could you explain me the license of this? can i use it for commercial reasons?

Just give your users a link to this page (in "credits" or in any way), so that they could freely download the pack. This is for them, not for me.

You have right. Licenses are too formal sometimes. In short, this is a free icon pack and you're free to distribute copies of it or pieces of it. However, you must pass on to the recipients the same freedoms that you received. This means that you must make sure that they could get the source too.You have right.
