Description:

This icon theme for Gnome provides monochromatic icons for panels, toolbars and buttons and colourful squared icons for devices, applications, folder, files and Gnome menu items.

An installation script let you choose the logo of your favourite distribution and the appearance of the main menu icon (Gnome/distrib, monochrome/colour).

Several themes are included to fit with light or dark panels, menus and toolbars.

Installation
Download the tar.gz file and extract it. In the new folder created, run the ./INSTALL script to choose the distribution logo (Ubuntu, by default) and the Gnome menu icon. If run as root, the script will copy the iconsets to /usr/share/icons to made them available to all users. Some default icons used by Rhythmbox and Dockmanager may be also replaced.
Run ./UNINSTALL as root to restore defaults icons.

Launchpad PPA
Faenza icon theme is available to install via a PPA repository. Open a terminal and run :
[indent] sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tiheum/equinox
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install faenza-icon-theme[/indent]

This icon set is just the best one in the world. I'm using it everywhere, on every home and work computer, under Linux (mainly) and also on my wife's windoze laptop. I even installed the set of Faenza on my smartphone. It is my favourite one since several years, so THANK YOU for such a wonderful and brilliant work!

I have tried the 'install repository' method, then INSTALL but there is no sign of Faenza when I go into 'Appearance Preferences'.
I then tried downloading and unzipping the file, then 'Appearance Preferences' and clicking on the .tar.gz. I get the error "Faenza Dark" failed. Can't move directory over directory.

Hi, first of all, let me thank you for this great icon theme which I am using for years now! I am using it with Xfce which has been updated to version 4.12 recently. All works well with Faenza besides of one little glitch: The "reboot" icon in the logout dialogue is missing and therefore substituted by the corresponding fallback icon. I tested some other icon themes and found that the Oxygen icon theme already offers the new icon, it is placed in /usr/share/icons/oxygen/128x128/actions/system-reboot.png Could you please add a corresponding link to Faenza? Thanks again!

Sadly the developer of Faenza is very busy and has not updated since 2013 I believe. He works full time for canonical. So I am not sure if he will return. I and a lot truly miss him but I understand.

RAVE-X Icons based on the Mint-X theme is very similar to Faenza (Based on it) it uses slightly different folders but fixes the restart icon you speak of along with other fixes. If your not into it you can always add the restart icon on your own.

Thanks for the hint, since there is little hope that this will be fixed by the author, I reported a bug for the distribution I'm using (Arch Linux) such that it can at least be fixed in the corresponding package.

Hello there. Thanks for a great set of icons. Wondering if anyone can help me with how I switch to a separate start menu icon, do not want the foot or debian swirl icon that is here. I have my own that I would like to use, but do not know where I find the one I have now. I am using Linux Mint Debian Edition.

I just upgraded my LinuxMint 15 to LinuxMint 16 (based on Ubuntu 13.10
and now I have the problem, that there is no official release of your nice
faenza-icons for Ubuntu 13.10.

Can you give us information, when we can expect the new relase?? I would like to stay with your icons....

These packages of icons just looks almost like android icons. Very well done. Using the Ambiance package right now on linux mint 14.1 with Mate.

Hi, I don't know if you use this icon theme with ubuntu (it seems you do) but for some reason the battery icon that appears on ubuntu unity is AWFUL (screenshot: http://oi47.tinypic.com/2z4weat.jpg), it is definitely not the faenza icon. The rhtymbox icon too is also the app's own. This seems like a bug to me.

As a separate issue the pidgin icon is static (it doesn't reflect your status) but I got around it by deleting the pidgin icon from the theme entirely (it wasn't enough to delete the smaller ones).

I love the Faenza icon set so much that I use it in rEFInd, my bootloader on my MacBook Pro. There are currently logos for Windows, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian, etc., but there are unfortunately no dedicated Linux logo (ie: a Faenza "Tux" icon) or an OSX logo, or an elementary OS logo (see http://i.imgur.com/6Nips.png). Can you please provide some more awesome icons? :)
