Hi,

Just to report a bug that has been there for a couple of versions now:

/usr/share/themes/Windows10/gtk-2.0/Apps/filemanager.rc:22: error: invalid string constant "dark_toolbar", expected valid string constant

It could be that I am missing some dependency packages.

Thanks for pointing out the bug. I'm almost sure it's an invalid style that this file calls. I'll fix this in v0.6.9

Thanks for your feedback and for using the theme!

Hi again CM,

Please take no offence for my reissuing this warning but I assume you know your way around on SourceForge. Unfortunately those guys host all kinds of stuff, malicious included. So if you decide to download GtkHash from them or anything else, please don't click any green buttons and stuff. Just browse the files and be careful!!!

Thank you

1. Is this theme an individual project? Or is this developed by a group? (the developer must be busy to make this theme compatible with so much platforms: Cinnamon; GNOME Shell; etc.)
2. GNOME Shell theme need works: Windows 10 should use the angle of 90 degrees instead of curved corners.
3. Is it hard to join the light and dark theme together? Make it just one theme and let the users just switch from the Tweak Tool to use dark theme.
Nice work btw.

hi,

1. I'm the only one working on the theme for now. It's been hard but I'm moving on :)

2. I thought I had fixed this issue. In fact, until SHELL 3.16 GTK 2 apps run Adwita window borders. It can be fixed by moving the Windows 10 folder to /usr/share/themes and select Windows 10 as window border. I have no clue why it doesn't "read" the metacity theme in .themes.

3. I just keep them separate because of the XFWM and Metacity borders themes wich use different colors for the light and dark version.

Thanks for your feedback

Hey, has this theme broken any of Nemo's functionality for anyone. In particular "open as root" in the context menu? I'm trying to pint point why "open as root" isn't working for me.

Hi,

I don't think this has anything to do with the Windows 10 theme, I have used it since v0.1 and it never broke anything. Maybe it's your system that's failing.

Say, what's the problem anyway?

Hi,

Are you using Arch based on Debian Testing? I don't know if I recall accurately.

Forget about me saying Arch based on Debian Testing. That's wrong. I was thinking "rolling". Probably that caused my glitch.

No way! I tried once to install Arch in a VM and failed miserably xD

I'm on Cinnamon 2.4 on Mint 17.1 x64

Hi CM,

I know what OS you are on. It seems I created bit of confusion. My bad, I am sorry. I was asking zerophase about what he is on.
So zerophase, if you are on Arch (if I recall it right), my guess is that your OS might be at the core of your problem. There's a pretty easy way to find out. Try to install the theme on Mint to see if you experience the same. Just an educated guess, don't take my word for it. I just had my share of frustration while ago with Testing from Debian. Please don't take me wrong, Arch is a fine OS but needs extra care.

Thank you and I apologize again CM for the confusion I seem to have created.

Hi CM,

First of all I just wanna express my gratitude for v0.6.8. Man I am happy! So you're getting close to final version for Cinnamon and you really care for our suggestions.

And now about checksums:

1. Checksums are important because by them we can determine whether our downloads are or aren't exact copies of the original.

2. If the download is not an exact copy, it either means that accidental corruption occurred during download or that a third party altered the original. Why a third party would alter the original is beyond the scope of this post.

3. Two or more identical files always have identical checksums.

4. Files that are not identical have different checksums, no matter how tiny the difference is.

5. It is still theoretically possible for two different files to have identical checksums. Such an event is reffered to as "collision". However the odds for such collisions to occur are astronomically low. Therefore in real life situations collisions hardly bear any significance at all. So they are ignorable. Just forget it.
If two files have identical checksums it is reasonably safe to assume they are identical.

6.There are lots of algorithms for checksumming. The most commonly used are MD5 and SHA1. Some would argue that these are obsolete and you should use more advanced algorithms. Talking about more advanced algorithms are beyond the scope of this post and for our purpose these would be overkill. If you would post an MD5 and an SHA1 beside your packages those would do just fine.

7. Checksumming utilities are included in most OSs by default. In
Linux you can use the terminal for checksumming. However it is advisable to have a standalone utility installed.

8. Personally, I checksum isos and other packers with ExactFile on Windows. Never cheksummed in Linux. Don't quote me on this but I'd give an app called GtkHash a try for checksumming on Linux. Check it out.

Thank you for reading through all that stuff

well cm everybody know that i think, cause its already like this since some time. most projects moved to github. Perhaps it would also be great for this theme project in future.it become so complex with changes that github with its commit structure would help sooner.or later

Hi CM,

It would be useful to provide a checksum (i.g. MD5, SHA1).
By the way, is Win 10 theme fully compatible with XFCE 4.12?

Thank you

Yes, the theme runs perfectly on xfce.
I have no clue how to checksum a package. But it sounds like a good idea.

Hi again,

A package or archive is just a file. .zip, .iso, etc can be looked at as just a file. In order to generate a checksum you just simply use an application. There are so many of such applications for Windows. Exact File is just one of them. On Linux I am not so sure which would do a fine job but yes there are checksum generators for Linux as well. You open up the application, select the package to you want to generate the checksum for, you select the type (e. g MD5, SHA 1, etc), you click go and a checksum or hash is generated. When I download your package, I generate a checksum for it and if it matches with yours then it is very very hightly probable that no corruption occurred during download or no third party has altered in any way the original. Yeah, it basically all boils down to what I've just written but there's extensive coverage of the subject on the internet. So you need a good, reliable checksum generator. For Windows Exact File does the job nicely. For Linux I just don't know which to recommend just now but if you are interested I'm gonna look for one.

Thank you

Just out of curiosity could you do a windows xp theme but based on the Royale theme (Media Centre) edition. I really like the windows 10 theme but most xp themes don't look right with the stark menu on cinnamon and I and possibly others would appreciate an XP theme one which looks like the real thing..... I could have done one myself but seriously don't know how to theme on linux even though I've been using it since 2010.

+Thanks Elbullazul, I've enjoyed many of your themes ever since I started using Linux (Mint) over a year ago after finding the Boomerang site. I see you've fixed the title bar in Firefox issue with this release, thanks! You had replied in Boomerang Dark that it would get a Metacity rework too and I was wondering if you had any plans for some others like Aero, Jade, Embedded, Homestead, Royal Dark, and Zune? I don't really mean to heap more work on you, but they are all great themes! That's fair if not supported anymore. Thank you again..
