Flat, simple and clean :)
- Inside the theme folder there is a readme.txt file with some simple instructions (styles for nautilus, change selection color, metacity-buttons)
If you are using Firefox, I recommend for this theme to install the extension FXChrome. It is not completely flat but almost ;)
https://addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/fxchrome/?src=api
requires:
- GNOME 3.4.x or GNOME 3.6.x (does not work on other versions of gnome)
- GTK3 theme uses unico-engine
- GTK2 theme uses gtk2-engines-murrine
There are four themes:
FlatStudio: based on the color of my other theme MediterraneanNight
FlatStudioLight: found a mockup that I really liked and in which I based for FlatStudioLight, the mockup is of Tobias Bernard's (minimal GTK theme mockup), found in
http://tobiasbernard.com/floss/minimal-gtk-theme/
FlastudioGray: soft gray frame
FlatStudioDark: flat dark theme :)

on Gnome 3.6 I can't select it as my window theme. Well, I can, but it doesn't take effect.
Also, checkboxes are often ambiguous - it's impossible to tell whether it is checked or not.
Thanks.

In my testing (Ubuntu 12.10) I have no problems with Cinnamon, nemo and nautilus 3.6.
what the checkbox and radiobutton is also solved, but aesthetically it is a little different to Gnome 3.4.
In general, the theme goes well in Gnome 3.6 and Cinnamon
Thanks for your comment :)

The theme works perfectly in Cinnamon (except having some white on light fonts in the system settings), I meant a theme for Cinnamon itself (the panel, mostly). This would probably be easier for the author of Contrail, as his Gnome-shell theme is pretty much what is required for Cinnamon... oh well. thanks for the great theme!

From FlatStudio or FlatStudioLight or FlatStudioGray (the one you like, not FlatStudioDark!)
for GTK3
1. - Edit ../FlatStudioXXX/gtk-3.0/setting.ini and change bg_color for the following value
gtk-color-scheme = "base_color:#FDFDFD\nbg_color:#DEDFCE\............."
2. - Edit ../FlatStudioXXX/gtk-3.0/gtk.css
about line 4
@define-color bg_color #DEDFCE;
about line 41
@define-color theme_bg_dark_color @bg_color;
for GTK2
3.- edit ../FlatStudioXXX/gtk-3.0/gtkrc (similar to step 1)
line 1
gtk-color-scheme = "base_color:#FDFDFD\nbg_color:#DEDFCE"
about line 5
gtk-color-scheme = "theme_bg_dark_color:#DEDFCE\n........."
There are instructions in the readme.txt to change the selection color (very easy too)

That happens by browsing in incognito mode, can expect to update or modify your own.
for it edit the gtkrc file leaving the chrome section as follows (copy/paste)
style "chrome-gtk-frame" {
ChromeGtkFrame::frame-gradient-size = 120
ChromeGtkFrame::frame-gradient-color = @theme_bg_dark_color
ChromeGtkFrame::inactive-frame-gradient-color = @theme_bg_dark_color
ChromeGtkFrame::frame-color = @theme_bg_dark_color
ChromeGtkFrame::inactive-frame-color = @theme_bg_dark_color
ChromeGtkFrame::incognito-frame-gradient-size = 120
ChromeGtkFrame::incognito-frame-color = @theme_bg_dark_color
ChromeGtkFrame::incognito-inactive-frame-color = @theme_bg_dark_color
ChromeGtkFrame::incognito-frame-gradient-color = @theme_bg_dark_color
ChromeGtkFrame::scrollbar-trough-color = shade (0.99, @theme_bg_dark_color)
ChromeGtkFrame::scrollbar-slider-prelight-color = shade (0.87, @theme_bg_dark_color)
ChromeGtkFrame::scrollbar-slider-normal-color = shade (0.80, @theme_bg_dark_color)
}

1) when I select a folter, or a file in general, the text becomes white and the background color is light-grey: in this way any text is not readable
2) in several programs: text in the menu is white and the background color is light-grey: in this way any text is not readable
3) Chromium: the TAB bar is dark-grey; could you set it light-grey like the toolbat (home button, back and forward buttons, and so on)?
4) are you interested in developing a FlatStudio theme for Emerald?
Thanks!

don't consider the title-bar: it's white due to Emeral theme
the problem is the TAB bar, it should be light-grey like the toolbar. If you fix this and the problem of white text over light background then FlatStudio-Light could be one of the best gtk3 theme ever.

Moreover, in the options page of chromium have selected the following?
- Button "using GTK+ theme"
- Checkbox "Use borders and titlebar"
