10 @Soyburg, Long shot, but thought I'd ask anyway...
Do you still happen to have the source code (POV-Ray scene) to this? I can't see it posted.

I like it, with what did you render it ?

I used Pov-Ray (v3.1g) which i invoked from the commandline (no frontend). The editing of the scene-file was done in Kate.

The include files were metals.inc and glass.inc. I used simple objects (like sphere, cylinder) for CSG except the "teeth" of the gear, which are superquadric ellipsoids. Rendering was done with antialiasing set to 0.5 (which could have been more). There were two lightsources (blue and quartz) and a large (whats-the-word?) lense(?) which explains the perspective. The objects were set to "no_shadow" and were 10 units above a plane-object.

The votes are down to 33% now and i respect that opinion. I just wondered if someone could give me an insight on what is amiss on this wallpaper. Critcism is always welcomed.

Has it something to do with the fact, that i uploaded two different resolutions instead of packing two zipped resolutions into one file?

Just curious...

whats amis seems to be the trolls voting everything down, which is why all the new wallpapers are very low right now.

perhaps people should have to log in to vote, and only be allowed to vote once per update to something. people could still get around it, but it would be a pain...

Thanks. I use econsole on my wincrap machine at work, and unless the pic is the actual size of the monitor, Econsole will only show the true background when using 100% transparency.
