Description:

My Gtk theme, based heavily on the Elegant Brit theme made by fmrbpensador. I took the background image from Mirav2 gtk (modified it ofc) and used the theme as a reference to learn how to implement it.

Attached are matching Xfwm, Metacity and Emerald themes (very slightly modified Elegant Brit ones). If you want a theme for Openbox or whatever else, search for Elegant Brit, it will fit perfectly.

There's also a userchrome for Firefox included. Just copy the file to your ~/.mozilla/firefox/something.default/chrome/ folder.

If you find bugs, please comment on them.

[edit] I added a toned down version, for those who don't like bright white. Take a look at the third screenshot. It's still all in one package.

Yep, this is a sweet theme, but my criticism matches others' here....the font color for window menus and panel buttons is too dark. In your screenshots the font is white, but in the actual package the font is black against dark gray.

That's really weird, I had this same problem once with other elegant brit based themes, when I was using gnome and ubuntu/suse, and I don't know why this happens.
The weirdest thing is that it doesn't happen to all gnome desktops. For some people it works and for others don't, I was even posting about it on some forums but never got any answer :(

Try downloading other similar theme like elegant brit or elegant cold blue, and if you could, tell my if it does any difference. If not then sorry, but it's definitely your installation's fault.

On a proper desktop you should only have this problem with firefox (easy fix), open office and maybe something else but DEFINITELY NOT nautilus and other such things.
Still I had the same problem on a different system and still don't know what was causing this bug.

Does it happen with all the apps or only with firefox and open office?
I don't know how to fix open office but in the package there's a userchrome.css file. Put this file in your ~/.mozilla/firefox/something.default/chrome/ folder and it should be ok.

Great theme, but I really can't see the menus on openoffice. I click and they're there, so it's just the font color. Do you have any idea of how I can change it?

Thanks again!!

Unfortunately I have the same issue and no idea how to fix it. Open Office seems to not work very well with Gtk, the menus, scrolling bars and several other thing are displayed wrong.

This is a wonderful, usable theme (The menus rock!). Problem is...the panel menus break.

Any suggestions?

It looks like some parts of the gnome-panel have no support for transparent png's.

Please try the above link and tell me if it's any better.

The rar file is passworded. I cant really install the theme or extract it.

There must be something wrong with your archiver, it isn't passworded. You can try to fix it or you can download a tar.gz file from here:

I like the pattern. It makes it really unique. I've only ever seen it in the Mirav2 theme, which you obviously know about.

Minimalist yet elegant. I like it.

For your next update, is it possible to tone down the background colour (white) as it is very bright.

Thanks,

I like having bright white on my desktop, but I think I will attach a second gtk which will be toned down :)

Great! I love this theme. However, IMHO, userChrome.css has room for improvement about menutext color in mouseover.
I tried to edit the css, I think this is better than current one.

--- Start ---
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* set default namespace to XUL */

menubar > menu
{
color: rgb(100%,100%,100%) !important;
}

statusbar
{
font-weight: normal !important;
color: rgb(0%,0%,0%) !important;
}

#urlbar[fission="fusion"] > #statusbar-icon .progress-bar
{
-moz-appearance: progresschunk !important;
}

menubar > menu[_moz-menuactive="true"] {
/* color: MenuText !important; */
color: rgb(100%, 100%, 100%) !important;
}

menubar > menu[_moz-menuactive="true"][open="true"] {
color: MenuText !important;
}

--- End ---

Sorry for my English.
Thanks.
