Description:

A dark, nearly black GTK2 theme. Contains borderless themes for Beryl (Emerald) and Metacity.

To resize windows using borderless themes (in Gnome at least), press Alt + Middle mouse button and drag the window. If there is any interest I could add Metacity and Emerald themes with borders later. If anyone needs more color variations, just ask.
Installation:Download the package, extract it, open the folder and read the instructions file.
Info:The Emerald themes has two versions, one with OSX-like buttons and another which resembles Vista buttons. The same applies to Metacity themes.

Firefox, Gaim and Open Office have some issues with dark themes. Fixes are provided in the instructions file.

Ubuntu users: Install the package 'gtk2-engines-pixbuf' to use the theme:
sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-pixbuf.

This is one of the best things I've seen on the site. It's true-black, elegant, polished, quick (for its use of pixmaps), and easy on the eyes. Well-done!

Okay, first of all, great theme, but before I go shouting praises from the mountain, good god at this color chooser script you've got going on here. I don't think you could have made the simple process of drag-dropping a theme more complicated. Nowhere in your instructions do you include any way to get different color themes working aside from just following the script. I'm hoping this is just a distro based problem since I'm not using ubuntu and you didn't have the foresight to take into account that not everybody is, because in truth, this is a great theme. I'd just rather have it in red right off the bat than spend a good chunk of my morning working towards something that should have been done in the first place.

Good god man, props on trying something different, but in the last hour I've spent trying to get this theme from blue to red, it's been made abundantly clear to me that sometimes it's not the best policy to go against the grain.

Until you can just package all of your color themes separately and let the users pick which theme to install, (Really, it's a lot less work than coding a script to choose it and input it into the root directory, etc.) I'm just going to use a different theme.

Well, the reason I included a script instead of separate themes was to try and keep the file size down to save gnome-look some bandwidth. I guess it's not that a big deal though so I added the different themes by default.

Just downloaded the theme again to see the separately packaged tars, really loving the red and wanted to thank you for packaging them together.

Did you extract the package, open the folder, and install the parts separately?

This theme contains separate parts for Gtk2, Metacity, Emerald and Gnome-panel.

Why do I still get black text color in firefox menu?
Anyone know how to fix this?

I'm not sure why, but are you using any special Firefox theme? If so, perhaps that changes the menu color?

Great theme allaround:)
I just would like to change one thing;
(e.g) when you open nautilus, and view folders and files in a list view,
it's really annoing(hopefully only to me= :) when every other file and folder's background is grey..

if you can tell me how to change that, i would do your dishes for whole summer ;)

Sure.

In a terminal:
gedit $HOME/.themes/Cobra/gtk-2.0/gtkrc
At line 1421, change:
GtkTreeView::odd_row_color = "#111111"
To:
GtkTreeView::odd_row_color = "#000000"

I'll contact you about the dishes. ^_^

Well, did you try the fix with the "userContent.css" file provided in the instructions?

Put the provided "userContent.css" in your home directory and type the following in a terminal:

mv $HOME/userContent.css $HOME/.mozilla/firefox/*.default/chrome/

That should reset the Firefox colors to black text and white background...

I love dark themes but they make it difficult to read text when I'm online.
