Description:

This is a port of the imetal OSX theme by AndyBlac . It uses the pixbuf engine so it's a little slow, but i couldn't make an accurate port without it.

Now that Azel is finaly completed and released, i managed to update imetal too ... There is only one theme now, if you want to use globalmenu with it , just open the gtkrc file found inside the theme folder and change the line (it's near the end) :
include "Tweaks/tweaks.rc"
to
include "Tweaks/globalmenu-tweaks.rc"
and reload the theme.

In order to extract the archive , change the suffix to tar.gz .

Legacy apps will almost always look better with bg color "#bbbbbb" because they just inherit colors, not pixmaps from the theme . As a result there is no gradient and #979797 doesn't blend smoothly with the window decorator. Gtk apps though, look better with #979797 for the reason i explained before. If i could skin differently legacy apps from gtk apps this problem would obviously go away.

Impressive work!. Congratulations.
I've two minor issues:
1st) Evolution messages list-header is wrong at vertical mode.
2nd) The color set up at legacy apps (Motif) is too dark. I get the right color using
bg[NORMAL] = "#bbbbba"
instead of
bg[NORMAL] = "#979797"

I don't know what may be affected by this change, but since I use NEdit a lot, I prefer it this way...

You mean emerald decorator with buttons on the right? You could just use the metacity decorator.

I stopped dreaming of an update, so many thanks to you.

Better are slightly better now. A little problem remains with Banshee, a grey band is display just on the right of the buttons...strange.

But, please, could you please change the tooltip color?

Thanks in advance.

Whaou, thanks a lot !!

Another request but maybe more difficult, is it possible to unlock to the "color" tab to tune some Gnome colors?

Anyway, best theme I've ever used.

Thank you, i also took a look at your playlists. I was glad to see the whole Dark Tranquillity discography along with Tristania, and many other bands i used to listen or am still listening to. In fact Rhytmbox plays Beyond The Veil right now :).

Almost perfect, can we have a lighter version ? - (I mean light grays - as in http://static.flickr.com/112/284328104_6995c6f4b7_o.jpg OR http://static.flickr.com/117/284328107_af99da556d_o.jpg)

On the other side - I think - the "perfect theme" - where a lot of Gnome users like to dream about - will be something between your theme and Aurora Engine ( scrollbars ).

If you can try this approach - I'm sure your imetal will stay on top for years.

Thanks for the theme.

Well, I'm currently using this theme and it's GREAT, but I however one problem that's stopping me from getting MAXIMUM enjoyment.

Check out this screenshot:

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a319/Shakhtar9/text_colour.png

You see the text colour in places? It's a sort of... GOLD colour. This also happens in the "Leopardish" theme as well.

How can I correct this?

That is very weird... I don't use this color anywhere in my theme. Try deleting the theme from your /home/yourname/.themes folder redownload and reinstall it. On the Appearance Preferences window select customize and on the controls tab select imetal-macmenu.

Hi there. Sorry, I think I've wasted your time. I COMPLETELY forgot that I changed the font colour in a separate .gtkrc-2.0 file that I made to change the text colour on the panel.

Sorry, dude. I feel like an IDIOT. Your effort to help me was, nevertheless, appreciated.

Just tried the 0.86, and my wishes are:
- change the tooltip color, grey (tooltip) on grey (window) is not good enough, clear different colors would be better, a soft yellow perfect,
- make the system button wider, like the one of "blue" imetal would be great,
- make dialog button a little bit higher. To me it seems you made them wider in 0.86 and this is clearly better, higher and, maybe, less round would be better.
- is it possible to make the "color" tab active when you want to tune the theme?

- in your Firefox theme, could you create the back history and forward history buttons (just close to the back and forward buttons like in the default Firefox theme).

Thanks in advance

- I will change the tooltip color on the next release but i don't think yellow would fit well with the rest of the theme.

- System button ? Which button is that?

- I might add a little more height to the buttons but i won't reduce their roundness . It's not that i don't want to, i could change allot of things but since the theme is a port, i try to be as faithful to the original as i can.

- I don't think it's possible to use the color tabs with pixbuf themes but i will look in to it.

- Next release will probably have those buttons skined.

Some buttons are square while others are round, same for tabs, not good in my opinions.

It's a port and i wanted to be as faithful as possible to the original in respect to its author. Besides , i like the way the tabs are though i can't say the same for the buttons. This has more to do with the way some apps are written and the pixbuf engine itself and less with the buttons and i don't want to make even more per application fixes.
Anyway, thanks for your suggestions , i will keep them in mind for when i make something from scratch.

Hi,

I always considered the original Mac themes vastly overrated, but your imetal theme is fantastic! Great colors and design (I never thought I'd ever say that about a greyish theme). I love it, especially combined with the Buuf icon set. However, there are 3 little bugs:

in Rhythmbox there's the possibility to rate a song. It's done by a 1 to 5 stars sytem. In imetal, these stars look like gibberish.

In Nautlius, when dragging something with the mouse from the folder pane into the tree view on the left side bar and hovering there over a potential drop target, the target doesn't get highlighted.

When navigating though the controls with the tab key (sending the focus to the next control), the control with the focus mostly doesn't get something like a frame or highlighted. Can be checked with Nautilus again: the only control visualizing the focus is the sidebar on the left side.

Apart from these: best theme ever!

First you'll have to extract the package. Next open it, click on "gtk" and copy the desired theme (folder) to .themes in your home directory (ctrl+h to show hidden files). If you want to use the emerald theme as well, drag it do .emerald in your home folder. Icons, cursor and such is described in the readme file. Hope that helps:)

Hi,
Thanks for your work! It's just amazing!
The best skin I ever had...

Only one remark:
Regarding the firefox skin and the Thunderbird skin also (imetal gradient) there is a small problem with the elevator, a small space between the bar and the end of the screen but you can see what I mean here : http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/1319/firefoxgradientrj2.png

Also Is it possible for the next release to design a rounded adress bar for the firefox skin?
I know I'm asking a lot...
But anyway thanks for all
