Description:

It is time to give a modern and professional look to our desktop! The new theme makes more clever use of orange (not over-use it) and is mainly color-neutral. It is designed for Ubuntu in mind but can be used in other distros that may bear warm colors.

Installation: (requires pixbuf theme engine)
Very simple. Just double click the file newwave-(xxx).gtp where (xxx) is the version number e.g. 050. Note that if you have previous version of the theme in your home folder you need to remove it first. You may need to log out then log in to make all changes appear (e.g. handlers, lines). For more information on how to fix Firefox's menubar text and how to use the theme in root programs see the README file.

Extras:
The package also contains:
- New Wave Configurator (GUI),
- Emerald themes,
- Compiz-fusion settings,
- Second theme with dark menus,
- Firefox skin,
- Some metacity tweaks.
- Time applet tips.
Theme for xfwm4 (Xubuntu) can be downloaded in the Download section of this page.

The theme is good, it is nice and clear. But the disabled menu entries are not good readable (e.g. into evolution). I think, the disabled menu entries should be not shaded.

Report

I wish they were not shaded but that is done by the engine and could not be disabled.

i for myself haven't tried it, but look at this: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Archiplex?content=87617
it seems that you can use the mist engine for the menu items and it does not draw shades.

Thnaks for the advice. I will fix it if I have time because I'm very busy these days.

I kinda like the previous metacity. I like the new one, but it's too futuristic (or something like that) for me.

could you provide both?

btw, this is my fave theme now :D

With Compiz wobbly windows, sometimes there is a gap between the title bar and main part of a window, when moving it about in a silly manner.

As I said in page 2 :

"I'm afraid this is beyond my scope as it requires a new version of emerald or may be better integration of the window manager with gtk."

So if you don't want this line use metacity :)

Oh, I forgot to mention, I am using Metacity.

So the thing is with compiz-fusion then as I'm using metacity with no desktop effects enabled there is no such problem.

Yeah, you're right. I was thinking the same thing, but I just thought it odd that I never saw it happen with other themes, but I just checked and it even does it with Human, although it's harder to notice, probably because of the lighter colors.

Hey:

It is looking good so far. My only concern right now is that it looks a bit like Human-Murrine since its not a completely dark theme (a good thing). And with making Human icons the default icon set, it doesn't differentiate much from the standard theme other than the gray borders.

Other than that its good.

One thing, any new wallpapers that may go with this? The ones on the Wiki page are not cutting it for me, not modern enough.

Hope some constructive criticism helps. Have been testing this alot. Keep up the good work.

On the wiki the pack contains both theme that uses Human and one that uses Elementary Ubuntu. The reason for human is that it is intended to be for other audince as the theme may go into Ubuntu but there are not Elementary icons available so a compromise must be done.

As far as the wallpapers they are my first attempt at this kind of stuff. For more candy you may go here:

Oh, I thought the newwave-0.5.9-human icon was like some sort of modified human icon set. Now I get it.

I hope you don't mind, but I made an Emerald theme that looks more like the Metacity theme. Feel free to include it if you like.

Keep up the awesome work!

The text boxes are scrambled when you mouseover certain icons in OpenOffice.

OpenOffice as well as Firefox and some other programs does not follow the GNOME HIG correctly thus resulting in strange looking controls. That is not a problem with my theme but with the program itsef.

then why is your theme the only one who suffers from this bug?

FYI: Thunderbird has the same issue. Posted a screenshot on launchpad.
