You could try commenting out line 26 in the gtkrc, it should read " bg_pixmap[NORMAL] = "brushed.png" " This doesn't really do much for the theme, just slows your box down. Just erase the line altogether.

Some people have reported that turning off font anti-aliasing improves performance a lot... but then your fonts will look like crap.

Otherwise... get more RAM and/or a new video card ;) You can get memory so cheap these days...

Ok, dude! Yes, i using anti-aliasing feature off, not so bad with font size 8 (windows-like) great job and don't stop (by the way, i am due to stop to annoyng you :^> )!!! An gtk2-engine (using Cairo) could help something ???

Thanks everyone for all the feedback... keep it coming. I'd like to keep improving this. Here's my comments on issues people have brought up:

1.] The Scrollbar - Yep, it's pretty much crap. I'm gonna redo it completely for v 0.6

2.] Menu Borders - Personally, I'm a big fan of the menu borders. It connects the menu with the pressed button and gives a nice outline. If you can't stand it, make a white png with dimensions 24x21, name it menu_background.png, and move it into the gtk-2.0 folder.

3.] Tooltips - Yup, these will be changed in the next release as well. I've been meaning to redo these for some time now.

4.] Titlebar Text on Insensitive Windows - Yeah. The metacity theme needs a lot of work. If you don't like it just use a different one for now, I recommend MoreIndustrial and Clearbox-In.

Personally I love this theme just the way it is. I'm using both the Metacity and GTK themes.

I suppose some tweaking is in order for the Metacity part, but even as it is right now, it's about the best and most unique out there.

I like the menu style as you do. I'm glad we agree. :-)

The whole theme is quite unique and stylish. I particuarly like the widgets and progress bars. Very stylish. Flashy, yet somehow subtle at the same time.

i really like this theme, but in my machine run a bit slowly even my system using a nVidia TNT2 card with 32Mb VRAM (nvidia drivers installed under Ubunntu Breezy, GL screensaver run nice) ... There are something that can speed up (or my machine sucks ??? :^> )? Anyway, you do a beauty, beauty theme!

well, well, well... just to test i disabled the "anti-aliasing", using "monochrome" setting and the system run better than before... try it yourselves (pango, atk, xserver ???)

disregard "atk", sorry.

This is a really nice theme that has just the right grain of aqua without being an annoying clone.
However there is one thing I really dislike about the theme - the scrollbars. The steppers are too big compared to the thumb grip. And why does it have arrows too? I know these are just two little details, but they drive me mad. ;)

It will be good if you take care of the tool tips background it doesn't look so good now.

oops almost forget about the menus. I hope you can remove the menu borders too so that it will look flatter.

however I changed the window border by the "MoreIndustrial" it is far better xD

In my opinion, the text in non-fucused windows blens in too much with the theme and makes it totally unreadable.

Which text are you referring to? The titlebar text?

It may just be me, but the progress-bar "theme" doesn't seem to quite fit in.. Not only is the fading horisontal instead of vertical, but it also lacks the glossy-look that the rest of the theme offers. Anyway, just a thought.

This is one of those rare themes that actually look aesthetic and work well. Great work. Keep it up. :-)

Finally a great theme I can live with for a long time. I agree with the last post, scroll bar arrows needs some highlighting on mouseover, right now they kinda get lost. Also, metacity do not show application icon, maybe u r already working on it. A few versions later its gonna be even cooler. Thanks for ur contribution

First, I really like this theme. But I did like it better when it was more of a blue shade.

Anyways, windows that aren't focused only show an X for the close button (no minimize and maximize graphics appear). I also like it when non-focused windows highlight the min, max, and close buttons on mouse over. Also the maximize and close buttons highlight black (or something close to it), but the minimize button doesn't change color.

As for the controls, the scroll bar is the only one I don't really care for. The arrows on the scroll bar could use highlights on mouse over. The positioning bar I find easier to recognize when it's a different color from the rest of the bar (it kind of blends in now). Or maybe there is something else that can be done to make it stand out a little.

Well, thanks for your contribution! I find this a very nice theme.

Maybe the people who are all marking my theme as "bad" would be so kind as to tell me why it's bad, so I can improve it?

Forget it bro! This is one of the most beauty themes in this site! Continuue to improve him, one thing which lacks in Gnome is a really good theme, sharp colors... Generally the colors used by the most of theme "creators" is so "vanilla-like", some themes are really good, but the color really make me "sad". (IMHO). regards to you all rom Brasil!

Nice work on the theme, but I can't use it because many apps crash in gnome. For example the logout prompt, trash emptying prompt, and add panel applet prompt

What version of gnome are you running? I developed this on 2.12 so I don't know how well it works with everything else..?

Also, if you run "killall gnome-panel;gnome-panel" in a terminal, then reproduce the crash, are there any gtk error messages?

Yes, I am also running gnome 2.12, but with gtk+ 2.8
