Shiki-Colors mixes the elegance of a dark theme with the usability of a light theme, resulting in a hybrid theme. Shiki is designed to be fast and stable.
There is a Clearlooks version for out-of-the-box compatibility with most distros and a Murrine version for eyecandy and speed.
There are 7 color variations (Orange, Blue, Green, Purple, Red, Chocolate, Pink). A matching set of Icons, Wallpapers and GDM themes can also be downloaded separately from gnome-look or at the gnome-colors project page.
You can edit the theme's source (the gtkrc files) for further customization, which is all too easy due to the included instructions.
Must read or clowns will eat you:
* The Murrine version will only work with Murrine 0.90.3 or newer. Yes, you will need to upgrade unless you're using Ubuntu Jaunty.
* The borders are very thin, and titlebars/menubars are unified because of "LOL, ELEGANCE". If you have any difficulty resizing windows, try the included alternate metacity with thicker borders.
* In Ubuntu, for themes (installed through appearance preferences) to be able to theme applications in admin mode, you must type in a terminal:
sudo ln -s ~/.themes /root && sudo ln -s ~/.icons /root
Fedora users can get an installable package of Murrine 0.90.3 (x86) here until is not available in release section:
http://files.getdropbox.com/u/1529612/gtk-murrine-engine-0.90.3-1.fc12.i586.rpm
* In Ubuntu, you can use the official PPA repository for easy installation and upgrades. For Ubuntu Karmic Koala, you can simply run apt-get install shiki-colors to install from Ubuntu's universe repositories. The packages are also available in Debian Sid.
* To fix minor Firefox 3 bugs in Shiki-Colors, install the Stylish add-on and go here (or install the included userChrome.css file following the instructions in README):
http://userstyles.org/styles/10822
* Visit the GNOME-Colors project page for bug reports, feature requests, SVN and more downloads:
http://code.google.com/p/gnome-colors/
* Consider donating a small amount to the GNOME-Colors project if you wish to support it, or to show your appreciation. You can do so by clicking on the "donate" button next to the download section.

Nice-Theme!!!!
But why does thunderbird look like shit? :-( The columns look plastic. Is this because of the mozilla gecko-engine?

I use your WHOLE shiki theme from months and it's still my preferred ;)
I have one question: how can i set bottom panel background without losing theme feature (avoid hidden application buttons and squared pager)? I hope i was clear enough =P
Thanks for all the great work! ^^

About the other thing you mention, I didn't quite understand what you meant?

I'll try to make it clearer XD
You provided panel's background with your theme (panel-bg-dark.png). When i apply this to the bottom panel all the edges of the application buttons hide, reaveling them only when hoovering with mouse or selecting them. There's a way to avoid this? It seems that you have used panels' bg in your screenshot.
If you don't understand I'll link a screenshot... hoping that it will be clearer than my words XD

Don't use gnome-panel's built-in theming options, they're buggy - it's better to enable it in panel.rc
Also, It's not a good idea to disable focus. It's always good to have some indication of which widget is currently active. Disabling focus lines also messes with the padding of widgets, so again - not a good idea.

All you have to do is remove the "#" at the start of the line that says enable gradient panels.

really a perfect theme-I really love it. congrats!
I installed a former version manually (not with the all-magic-installer) - are there any upgrade instructions to get the current release?

Since both theme uses the Murrine engine, you should be able to recreate the same look.
Wich I could do it myself.

What I meant, it's that Windows' Main Toolbar and Location bar could be the same color as the window decoration theme and Main Menu.

Clearlooks Version: It's the same old version as before. It's compatible with GNOME 2.22+ and only uses the Clearlooks engine, so no murrine is necessary. It's the most clean and functional of the two and the primary download as such.
MurrineSVN Version: It's the future of Shiki-Colors. Fully designed for the latest revisions of MurrineSVN, therefore it will only work after compiling the Murrine engine from source, or by installing my uploaded debian binary packages. Yes, you will need to upgrade Murrine - even if you're using Ubuntu Intrepid. No, you can't have the old Murrine version back - this is the new one.

Just 1 little issue, i installed OpenOffice 3 just now (Ubuntu 8.10) and the menus don't look like they should. In stead of the black thin spacers, i have white thicker ones and when i hover the locked items i get a coloured edge around them. Not a very big deal, but it does break the style a bit. When i installed Thunderbird i had it too, but i uninstalled it again. Maybe it's because i installed it after i installed the style? Resetting it doesn't help btw and rebooting doesn't either.
Any solutions for this one? I'll upload a screenie if you want...
Thanks and keep up the good work!

The title bar disappearing is indeed a Nvidia problem, it'll be fixed when the new driver (180.xx) is officially released. You can try the beta version, but i wouldn't recommend it.

Also the window title bar behaves strange when working in/with text fields in all Open Office Applications: it disappears when I mouse-over the minimize/maximize buttons.
Nvidia drivers running here with ubuntu 8.10 ...
Great theme anyway - thank you!
