I just recently installed kubuntu 5.10 and was wondering if I already had the ability to use kbfx buttons, or if I needed to install the application to use them.

You need to install the kbfx applet from http://www.kbfx.org/ and then add it to the kicker like any other applet.

If you look around you might find a distro packaged version (deb or rpm)...I had to complile from source.

This is probably a dumb question, but how come I can't just resize the PNG for the size panel that I want?

Can't anyone come up with a kbfx design that doesn't remind me of Windows start menu?

Thanks for the "button". I'm a Kubuntu user and this button is perfect for my desktop, I like it so much that I'm currently using it, and I'll stick to it for a long time, at least until your next release is out :-) .

Hi,
I really like these kind of menu buttons. And would also really like to install it, but the style of the original menu is much nicer for me, than this kbfx stuff...

But a word to the gears. Why don't you take the official kubuntu logo (available here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KubuntuArtwork) and just use the gears?? No need to do it all by yourself :)

cheers

No, since you mentioned making gears would go beyond your design skills, I wanted to point you to the official kubuntu logo, which is available as SVG. And which you could take as a basis for this kbfx-button.

I.e. you could ungroup the official logo, take the blue "ubuntu-circle" with the gears in it and put it in your kbfx-button instead of your selfmade kubuntu logo. Of course you could also use the official lettering of the logo to make it look even more authentic...

I hope I expressed myself clearly this time.

regards

Ok, I have replaced the previous logo with the original kubuntu logo, tnx you & to the artist who made this logo.

About the font: I have intentionally decided to not use the original fonts of this logos (in all the kbfx that I have made) aiming to one greater elegance and for an original issue, otherwise, I have provide the svg files, if you want you can mod it:)
