Sylpheed is probably the best GTK-based e-mail client for the Linux platform - it just doesn't look it.

By simply replacing the original Sylpheed artwork, and the derived header files, a customized Sylpheed binary can be compiled - which looks like the one shown here.

Tested with the new Sylpheed 2.4.7. - and it compiles fine.

Is there any chance to see a tango port for sylpheed? I know, that there's a theme for claws mail, but I'm not quite sure how to port it...

To make a Sylpheed theme you first must create all the required images. Next you must convert these into header files (with the correct names) that can be used by Sylpheed (upon compilation). If you already have all the required Tango images, a theme can easily be made.

Have you ever considered using your theme on clawsmail? :O it's themable and i think it's a fork from sylpheed.

Hi,

Yes, Clawsmail (formerly called Sylpheed Claws) is Sylpheed with bells and whistles (and rattles and hum). It is indeed themable, but I have no plans to port my theme to Clawsmail. Feel free to do so if you want.

Nice! Sylpheed is a best GTK e-mail application I've seen. I also made a icon theme for myself some time ago. The default look is just ugly.
