Description:

I don't have time or motivation to maintain this icon theme anymore (this theme has not changed since version 3.3, Mar 17 2007). The fact that it still "kinda" works nearly a decade later (2015) is a small miracle. If anyone wants to take over its ownership, please contact me.
====================

This is (was) a complete refresh of the original OSX icon theme by Toby. I fixed every missing icon I could find, fixed the "tiny icon" problem and made enhancements. It is somewhat of a hybrid theme: I tried to make choices that seemed logical trying to keep a balance between usability and strict adherence to OS X.

2015 update: fixed the download link, nothing else.

Hi,
Can someone point me in the right direction actually to install this great looking set? I've just installed Tango, but when I drag the OSX folder onto the theme manager I just get "File format is invalid".
Thanks,
D

Download it first (just click on the link), and then drag it into the theme manager or extract the contents to ~/.icons/.

This is far my favourite icon set, thanks so much and congrats!

And i'm with the boy who said the folders icons doesn't fit at all with the rest, it's ugly and with low quality.

Please!! add a new icon to that :-D that way this iconset would be the best of all.

Regards.

Yeah well I'm kind of waiting for a better proposal for folder icons :| something that is easy on the eyes and all.

but... please move files to different location in theme directory.

All icons are in scalable subdirectory while these icons are not scalable. They are png files, while only svg files should go to scalable directory.

Please fix this minor issue.

Thank you so much for maintaining and developing this icon set.

I just cannot see my themes without your icons. And I'm glad you went away from tango folders though, I know original OSX folders are crappy but their shape was somehow right, so you did good move.

Thanks once more.

A very good iconset but.....

PLEASE take other icons for the folders. I know, you could not see the 'Apple-folders' anymore. But these folder-icons absolutely don't fit to the rest of the set. And there are enough other folder-sets wich are just waiting to get into your package. :-)

Just my two cents.

Keep up the good work!

Cheers

to make the mimetypes icons show correctly:

cd ~/.icons/OSX/scalable/mimetypes
for I in `ls`;do ln -s $I gnome-mime-$I;done

I have a feeling this is because your GNOME version might be older (mine is 2.14.1), I think it's a deprecated standart. The new ones don't have the gnome-mime gibberish.

had anyone installed tango succesfully on CentOS?

I installed "Icon Naming Utilities" but then when I try to install "Tango Icon Theme" it says that "Icon Naming Utilities" is required.

I like this theme, especially the icon for archives is sexy.
If you replace more and more icons from Tango with OSX-styled ones, this theme could become even better and maybe independent from Tango.

Dude, keep up the freakin' awesome work! These are the best icons I have EVER seen! I give this set *****/***** (5/5)!!!

There's one thing though, in Ubuntu, the Recent Documents icon under the "Places" menu is missing. I think it was there under your other OSX releases... what happened to it?

Great icons, but the recent documents icon, the "packed" icon and the opendocument icon is not working... I am using Ubuntu

First of all, a great job well done! Really appreciate the icons you have created.

I had pretty much the same problem, where all mimetype icons are not showing up and the gnome default icons were used. The 'packed' icon agd is referring to, I believe, is the one for compressed files, whereas the opendocuments are the new format OpenOffice2 is using. I have now figured out what the problem is, and have solved it.(please keep reading for what I have done to resolve the problem)

BTW, I am using Ubuntu, Breezy 5.10

agd:
I had the same problem. I found that it was due to the naming of the icons. You need to rename all the icons in the mimetypes directory (~/.icons/OSX/scalable/mimetypes/) to start with "gnome-mime-" (without the quotes.) There are about 20 or so links, you will also need to relink those files. Good Luck!

The recent-documents icon: I will try to look into it and fix it, but I don't know which one it is. May take a little while. The "packed" icon: what is that? The "opendocument" icon? What is that? All my od* files have a proper icon.

I am running Dapper Drake, by the way.
