Description:

This is an icon theme based on my other theme "nuoveXT" and "Windows Vista".

It is strongly recommended to have NuoveXT (1.5) installed to use this theme, simply because it inherits it (all mimetypes for instance).

For those who is wondering:
Metacity: Blendish (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=27002)
GTK: Clearlooks-Etiquette from the Big pack (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=25557)
Wallpaper: breathe easy (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/22134277/)
Icons: ;-)

Constructive feedbacks are, of course, welcome ;-) Hope you'll like it. Saki

Nice icon theme, really. Just I was used some of that (from OpenClipart) for my own icon theme.
Really, the GTK svg engine is not very nice in some aspects but you can adapt that icons for work same looking as inkscape. I just was done that in my icon theme. I don't know what kind of library are you using but I'm using rsvg and GTK 2.6.10.

I dont know what your smoking but you need to not take it to seriously.

Cario will anti-alias jaggled edges and they are already working on svg. It's nowhere near as bad as you make it out.

You really need glasses :P

Like I said, I have the latest cairo etc...and the first time I logged in under it my eyes watered for the first 10 minutes. Even now I can see how blurry everything looks. I'm sure this will improve over time though. Over time I'm sure it all will improve, but the here and now is obvious and you will not get detailed icon themes, made in svg, released in svg, for obvious reasons.

If you don't wanna take my word/experience for it, take jimmac's ;)

Now, I don't think you are smoking anything, you just have not informed your ignorance of the truth :)

I dont know what you mean about your comment about SVG format, Dropline Neu and other SVG icons sets look great. SVG support is great in gnome and you dont have to do different sizes with scaling issues.

Here's a screenshot using svg:

and here's one using png:

Strange, maybe you should ask the maker of Dropline Neu. When you angle icons in inkscape and export as PNG, they can be jagged anyway.

Report

Not at all strange and nothing to ask. Dropline Neu is cartoony. The only svg icon themes that look good in svg are cartoony. They have large borders so are not jagged and use transparent, shapped, objects to acheive their fake gradients, that can be seen if you really look. I only wish saki's sets would use the gimp's much better shadows. Looks 10x better.

Oh yeah, and the gradients not being rendered correctly is a well known bug submitted more than 6 months ago.

Cario will address this, but the thing is SVG when you strech a icon on the desktop looks ok. Some jagged edges is a small price to pay, you even see this in PNG's sometimes.

Here is a example http://suseux.commscentral.net:8000/current-desktop.png

'Will' address this and 'does' is 2 different worlds and who knows how much time. Like I said.....this is a bug that is over 6 months old. Cairo is not a one stop fix and it is not happening over night either. Nor will it do away with formats/rendering that will remain for years to come...who knows how long. No, it needs to be fixed....not sugar coded with more bad code.

Some jagged edges? Small price? Maybe on cartoon icons it is 'some' and a 'small price' but not on something with detail. BTW, I am up2date on all the latest stuffs
http://kwh.kernow-gb.com/~bvc/images/svg-vs-png.jpg
svg's are a joke compared to png's, hands down, plain and simple
much more detail, and more crisp and clearer

Simply because svg shadows are not shadows at all and look horrid is enough reason not to release icons in svg. Who needs icons that big anyway? I'd rather have real shadows and a crisp/smooth, properly rendered icons than the ability to scale, which is not at all necessary for icons and resource intensive for accomplishing such. Icons are small for good reason.

So this is going to be the newest incarnation of your nuoveXT theme? It looks lovely!

I can't wait to see the finished set! I hope it won't feel incomplete like a lot of other colorful sets out there.

Well...yes and no ;-) It will inherit nuoveXT, so you'll need both icon themes installed to make it "complete".

I think the main reason why there is so many incomplete themes out there is simply because it involves a lot of works. I understand perfectly these people. That's why I decided to inherit nuoveXT.

Glad you liked it!

Once again I am amazed by the quality of your icons, saki.

This set is going to be awesome. NuoveXT kicks butt, Vista-Inspirate will kick even more butt.

I especially like the action buttons...

Only suggestion I would make is doing something a little different with the icon for home. Even though I have no problem with Windows inspired icon themes, that one png is nearly an exact clone of it's Windows counterpart.
