Description:

nuoveXT is an icon theme for GNOME and KDE.

This is my first attempt of creating an icon theme. There is still a lots to do, but I thought I could share what I've done so far. Made entirely with Inkscape.

A big THANKS to:

- Inkscape: what a great tool! :D
- Ubuntu, Linux and Open Source in general
- All the other GNOME and KDE artists who have inspired me and specially everaldo (http://www.everaldo.com/) which is, I think, simply the best icon designer out there ;-)
- Open Clip Art Library (http://openclipart.org/).
- DeviantArt: One of the best place for inspiration and artworks.
- pwsp.net for hosting my project.

Constructive feedbacks are more than welcome ;-)

Enjoy!

Open up System > Preferences > Theme
Drag nuoveXT-1.6.tar.gz (which should be on your desktop) into the window there. Select "Yes I want to apply this now", and it should be done.

To gnome-look admins: This is quite a common question, perhaps it should be put in a help section of the website...

According to forum posts, Ubuntu Edgy changed its icon naming scheme. End result is when using NuoveXT in Ubuntu Edgy, the icon theme does not apply to all icons. Most noticeable is the trash icon. Yes, we can rename the icons but it's a bit tedious. Any update on this? Have someone managed to rename everything and repackage the icon theme anew?

I like what you've done here, but there is still much work to be done. if only I had the artistic ability to make icons. there are a lot missing and might I suggest you change the folder icons . . . I think we're all tired of the vista look already (besides the black :) ).

Great Theme, but...is this Project still alive? It seems that there could be some updates, some Icons aren't shown correctly on my Edgy Eft (Volume-Applet, Trash).

nice theme, but some suggestions:

i noticed that emblems are really big and they seem to even cover the text under the folder somewhat, maybe make them smaller?

the home icon really does feel outplace as someone else stated, it like mac os x's home icon.

otherwise, good job!

Click system, preferences, theme. Then on any theme click "Theme Details" and go to Icon. Then click install and double click the tarball and it will install the icons.

You just did right man!
This is the path to follow in KDE,

Excellent! 9.5 de 10
The most beauty theme, without all that kiddy aspect found in most other icon sets

Again: Excellent!

Suggestions and Bugs:

- You have many icons in the "actions" folder that should be in the apps" folder
- I'd love to have your iconset in every application I have,
so, I think is would be great to make icons for the system tray, kaffeine icons, etc,...
- More mime icons for mp3, wav, ogg, mpeg, avi, OOo, xls, doc, etc,...

it's just a suggestion, I'd do it but I'm pessimal designer, but I have a verry good taste,
That's why I like your theme so much ; )

Great job !

Would you consider releasing the source SVG files? There are a few more icons i'd like to make, but it's hard without the SVGs

Thanks!
