The gnome-open dialog looks like in screenshot 1. It wastes *a lot* of space. Why isn't it like in screenshot 2?

I love it, i always have to resize the windows and it pisses me off.

It's also following the GNOME HIG, which stats that buttons should be some number of pixels from anything else, including the edge of the window (12 or 16, I forget).

Yes, the HIG says there must be a 12pixels wide border:

But this isn't the case:

Maybe the modification I made was a little «too much» but it was just for you to get the idea.
