Description:

Ever wonder where those flash vids went that used to be found in /tmp? Firefox 4 and the newer flash plugin keeps them well hidden. This little script will tell you where to find the video file so you can play it in your fave media player or save it to disk.

You need "lsof" installed for this script to work. Most distros include this.

I've now updated this to make it a bit more useful. Running 'moz' in a terminal will change directory to where the video is and display its filename (which is a number).

Tested with Firefox (Icecat), Midori, Konqueror, Arora, Rekonq. Doesn't work with Opera.

Its written as a bash function so just copy the code into your .bashrc and it will be available in your next login.

Nice idea but not very useful to open a menu (or to have an icon on the desktop wich requires to minimize the browser window). Actually I use the addon Download Helper for Firefox, but if I could replace it I would. but for something as useful as it is.

I use "Download Youtube Videos +" instead. Works much better. It's not just Youtube video downloader. It works on almost every site, and you can also use it for download any file on website (.swf, .zip, .rar, .mp3 ..and so on).

Thanks for the comments. Its just a bit braindead at the moment. I've noticed some cases where the file descriptor returned is 22 but the video seems always to be 16. I need to test more cases with different sites and add some smarter code. Hope to do that in the next couple days.

awesome! In first moment doesn't work, so I remove "| head -n1" and works like a charm!

I created a code for chromium too (actually just a little change):
FLASHVID=`lsof | grep "chromium-.*deleted" | tail -n1`

Thanks :)

Thanks for the contribution - I'll add it in to the next version. Just checked Midori, Epiphany and Arora as well; they can all be caught with the script so will post an update tomorrow. I've already posted an update which fixes the slow response.
