Description:

So, I don't know about you folks, but I see a lot of "Here's a hot girl with my favorite distro's logo pasted on" wallpaper. While this isn't my personal choice of style, I do appreciate the necessity of it. The problem is, it seems folks like to post up wallpapers here on gnome-look made from COPYRIGHTED pictures.

So, to solve this, I've made a plugin that allows you to turn your favorite hot chick pictures into "Here's a hot girl with my favorite distro's logo pasted on" wallpapers! This way, you don't have to violate a copyright by redistributing Tara Reid with an Ubuntu logo on her butt.

Enjoy it.

p.s. This was a quick throw-together, so any bugs, feel free to email me :)

I know this is off topic, but....
Where the heck do you find the documentation for the available Scheme functions under GIMP? I've looked all over!
I don't mean a tutorial. I already know Scheme. Where is the REFERENCE MANUAL! ...or even just a list of functions with short descrip and args?

this is precisely why i had originally stalled the automation of this plugin.

What's any distro have to do with the woman that ends up on their distro-branded wallpaper?

The same question could be put to any number of popular wallpapers on gnome-look.org :)

Ok guys, I'm glad to annonce this script work perfectly with windows, and without any change of the Python script. Maybe tons of other snake-made scripts.

The only (and minor) side-effects are cancelling the script is done in 4 steps, and distro-images are visible in gimp recent documents.

I've just tried it, great work, fun and easy ^^

Hey, can you let me know what you did to get it working in windows so I can add instructions? Thanks.

I don't particularly like distro-branded-chick wallpapers, but the simplicity and flexibility of this plugin is pure win. Maybe it needs simpler instructions for non-technical users, or more color options but that'd just be icing on the cake.

Thanks for the complement. As stated, it's not my bag of chips either, but maybe this will help reduce the amount of distro-chick wallpaper here on gnome-look.org! :)

Let me know what I can do to improve the instructions.

I suppose GIMP-Python aka Python-fu is required to run your script...

I know it's not really the right place to ask this, but do you know where can I find this extension to fit the Win32 GIMP version ?

This does require gimp-python, which is used for python-fu in the gimp. I believe Hans Breuer ported the code for gimp-python to win32 long ago, but I know very little about gimp on the windows side.

A side note, Windows is NOT supported by this plugin. It may work, but it references files it places in the user's home directory, which may not work on some windows platforms.

If it is only windows-incompatible because of home directory, this is not really a problem for me...

But there is something wrong with GIMP + Python + Windows...

I found a portable-edition GIMP full of stuff to make some tests ( http://www.aljacom.com/~gimp/). Yeah, I'm French.

First of all, install Python 2.5.2 and its dependancies. Too easy... (this may hide something...)

At GIMP startup, crash with: "Entry point 'g_assertion_message' not found in libglib-2.0.0.dll" (when parsing pyconsole.py)

Great.

So, I update GIMP dll with the latest GTK+ bundle (those in GIMP bin/ folder and common files).

pyconsole.py works now fine, but I can't find a way to add/run scripts and show them in menus.

And by the way, the splash screen is not shown any more... Bug ?

I just post this as a reference for those who dare to try... I know it's not "win-look.com" here...

After having borrowed a war mace for... you know what.. I've learn just one useful thing: I'll use your script with my good ol' Ubuntu. I know I can make it work !! One day or another, I can wait ^^

Thank you for this front-approch of the evil basilics' world :)

Sorry, I must add something:

<GIMP python folder> > distrofy.py

"distrofy.py is a GIMP plugin and must be run by GIMP to be used."

Back to the beginning...
