Description:

Now it's easy to customize your desktop!

Conky is a free, light-weight system monitor for X, that displays any information on your desktop.

CONKY-colors is an easier way to configure Conky.

This conky script support multilanguage:
Bulgarian, English, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Ukrainian

How to install
Go to a terminal and type:
$sudo apt-get install aptitude python-statgrab python-keyring ttf-ubuntu-font-family hddtemp curl lm-sensors conky-all
$sudo chmod u+s /usr/sbin/hddtemp || https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=75639
$sudo sensors-detect #answering Yes (default) to all questions, even that last one that defaults to No

Now restart your session

Download and extract the conky-colors.zip and type in terminal in the same directory that has been extracted.
$make
$sudo make install
$conky-colors {options}

$conky-colors --help [for help]

Ex: if your cpu is quad-core and you want the noble color, with hd, network and pidgin monitor and all in portuguese
conky-colors --theme=gnome-noble --lang=pt --cpu=4 --network --hd=default --pidgin

For a working photo widget you need to specify a file or directory in conkyPhoto or conkyPhotoRandom script in ~/.conkycolors/bin/

Update your font cache:
$sudo fc-cache -v -f

+++ Kaivalagi's Scripts (Included in conky-colors) +++

Conky Banshee Script: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=7683570
+++ If you can, say thanks to him for this great work +++

in terminal type conky -c ~/.conkycolors/conkyrc.

To run conky at startup, go to System > Preferences > Startup Applications, click "Add" and add the path to the conkyStart file[/usr/share/conkycolors/bin/conkystart]

that's all folks!

OPTIONS FROM THE SCREENSHOT:
conky-colors --cpu=2 --calendar --photord --clementine=cd --hd=default --network --theme=wise
conky-colors --sls --weather=brxx0043 --theme=orange
conky-colors --cairo --cpu=2 --clock=cairo --network --theme=blue
conky-colors --ring --network --theme=red
conky-colors --slim --w=1440 --h=900 --theme=white --weather=brxx0043
conky-colors --board --w=1440 --h=900 --theme=cyan

KWON PROBLEMS:
Lua/bash scripts work with conky 1.8.1, but most of the python scripts still doesnt;
SLS MODE only work with lm-sensors configured
The position of the photo and cover may be wrong bc in ubuntu the space between the widgets is different from Archlinux (I'm an arch user now)

What options you chose? You can post a screenshot?
It's already has, ex: --proc=3 (u can set the max of 10 processes)

here's a pic of what mine looks like

The options I chose:
--lang=en --theme=gnome-human --cpu=2 --cputemp --swap --battery --proc=5 --hd=default --hdtemp1=sda --network --wlan=0 --unit=C --nvidia --clock=modern --calendar --weather=USCA0284 --rhythmbox --cover=cd --side=right --ubuntu

I've been looking for an nvidia script but I can't find it so I can't help you debug it, how are you making it work?

Also I have a question about the ordering of the widgets... can we have a choice as to which one is top, second, third, etc? Also having this as a choice may make it easier to fix the positioning of the photos and music player cover pics by having a simple equation take care of the pixel count.

About the problem with --clock=modern it's already fixed in v3.19 (see 3° screenshot), also, removed the Video Ram clock in nvidia widget. In fact, i put the nvidia widget there but i can't test it because I don't have a nvidia card, I just took some examples over the internet and made my changes on it.
I liked the idea of "make it easier to fix the positioning of the photos and music player cover pics by having a simple equation".
The idea of an user set the position of a widget is good, but, beside of changes in the program it will make the idea above into something VERY hard to do. Maybe in the future I can do that, but for now, i don't have plan... and... users can define the position of a widget by editing theirs conkyrc.
Greetings :)

oh yes another question: what's the proper way of re-configuring conkycolors? because it may take a few tries to get everything working as desired, or maybe someone wants to explore every single option and combination. The last time that I tried reconfiguring conkycolors it made extra folders within the existing folders (this was about a month ago or so). So I wound up uninstalling everything from synaptic and reinstalling to have a clean directory, but i'm sure there's an easier way...?

Some things have changed since v3.19, and if you have already conky-colors it will create two folders, .conky(old) and .conkycolor(new), and create a new one inside your .fonts folder.
But you don't have to uninstall everything to clean it. Just do this in a terminal and you will remove everything about conkycolors.
Quote:
rm -fr ~/.conky
rm -fr ~/.conkycolors
rm -fr ~/.fonts/conkyColors
rm -fr ~/.fonts/conkycolors
rm -fr ~/.conkyrc

You can also remove conky-colors by typing "./conky-colors uninstall", but this will not remove all the things of the older version. Remember this command can only be done in the same directory that have been created when you downloaded and extracted conkycolors.

Hi there, fans! :)

I noticed some problems:

1. In cyrillic languages(Bulgarian and Russian), Weather variable is not displayed.

2. Generated conky.rc is in iso-8859-1 encoding which makes impossible to edit it, when using cyrillic languages

3. I configured and tried conky-colors with --photo and --photord options. Pictures are resized and displayed properly BUT are moved up or down, depending on which options I turned on, and thus are not displayed in proposed picture frame but under the next or previous section, i.e. HD section

Well, the 3° bug is not a really bug, in coky you have to set the image position by yourself, conky doesn't support "dynamic" position.
Edit your .conkyrc in photo widget a string like this:
${image <source> -s widthxheight -p x,y}

Can you place an example for the position of the picture. That would be a great help.

First of all, thank you very much for the update! The nVidia plugin is pure awesomeness. Oh, and speaking of the plugin: Currently the clock speed of my Video RAM isn't displayed at all.

I'm using a 260 GTX graphics card with the Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T) Display Driver. Sadly I haven't the faintest idea why this isn't working for me, but please let me know if I can provide additional details.
