install:
configure --prefix=your_kde_install_path

make install

== IMPORTANT UPDATE ==
Mr. James Liu has asked me (M. J. Soto) to upload this short update, explaining what I did to compile this decor under KDE 3.0 (see shot 2).

Please, note that I'm not a programmer. I don't know C++. What I did is just a couple of trial and (mostly) error edits.

So: 1) get the tarball. 2) ./configure as usual. 3) edit acqua/Acqua.cpp and 3a) add #include <qvariant> as FIRST include, just before unistd.h, at line 21. 3b) delete line 30, which contains #undef Bool. 4) delete all moc files. 5) generate new moc files. 6) make 7) edit acqua/Makefile and change the one instance of kde2 to kde3. (this is the place to save the compiled libs). 8) make install. 9) run libtool --finish as per instructions.

10) Enjoy it!

NOTE:
Please note that this trick is also valid for kwinacqua_ace. I compiled both, thought the ace version with transparency was real slow.

DISCLAIMER: standard disclaimer. If your computer bombs it's not my fault, nor that of Mr. Liu.

um, can someone tell me the correct prefix for redhat 7.2? i can't get this thing to compile :(

for all you debian users, the correct prefix is /usr
---fault (too lazy to login)

I tried compiling this on KDE 3 Beta 1 and it pretty much blew up. Guess I'll have to wait a while before I can run it.

It looks great though.

I created a Redhat 7.2 RPM for this theme. Anywhere that I can upload it to?

Nice theme, by the way.

The original Mac OS themes does not have left and right side line.

There is no line left and right side.
but, this theme has signle thin line in side of the window..

Can you erase these lines to show more beautifully??

Now, the speed of this theme is fast:)

Replace algorithm to show pixmap??

Anyway, kwinacqua is a great theme, and Thanks for creating this theme.

It surely cant be hard to code something like this rather than pixmap it, and the speed improvement would be many thousands of %.

The algorithm for painting the infamous OSX "background lines" would be incredibly simple. As for reflections and the like, im sure its not tooo hard to figure out an equation/linear expression.

Report

hmm, you could do qpainter::drawline to draw those interlaced lines.

This theme is marvelous
If I only could make a window sticky.....
Keep up the good work.

The repaint so slow is because i use the QPainter::drawTiledPixmap() fuction. I have to use this fuction because i have to fit the gray-white-gray background of the buttons, which i borrow from the "sort_of_acqua" Icewm decoration. If i have the transparent background buttons, the problem will be solved. I am not good at art work, so please help guys!

Could you maybe send this to me, too? I was thinking about doing some speedup for myself, though I don't like duplicated work.. ;-)

Darn, the same as with attachments all the time: I forgot to give my email: hildehalde@gmx.de

Thanks, rastajoe

...but veeeeeeery slow...Ok, I just have a 400mhz PII, but the other styles are much faster. This kwin style is so slow on my pc that It could be unusable.
In anycase...veeery good job! Thank to you my desktop looks nicer and nicer...

Thanks ! It works !
Could you make some configuration option so we can keep the nice apps icon on the left appears ?

Support for the Sticky and What's This buttons would also be nice. Not consistent with the Mac OS X look, but useful anyway.

Very nice visually, but it's more than a little slow. Shading and unshading a window on my PIII/800 takes almost 2 seconds! With any other window decoration it goes so fast I can't even see the animation most of the time.

The titlebar is also a bit tall. An option like the one in KDE2 Default that allows me to set the titlebar height will be very useful.

Great work otherwise, I've been waiting for a KDE2-native Aqua decoration for a long time!

I realised just now that the titlebar resizes itself to fit whatever font is assigned to it. Nevermind. I was using Dolphin 12pt. I suppose I'm used to seeing it get cut off.

kwinacqua looks very good but it seems to repaint the frames either very solwly or too often because when I change windows the title bar flashes ( i.e. repaints). Otherwise it kicks ass.

Rounded MacOS X decorations! You can see my screenshot at http://omega.sci.univr.it/aqualinux2.png, this is KDE 2.2.2, running on a Slackware 8.0, with both Mosfet Liquid and Kwinaqua (along with true type support for menus, iKons 0.5 and so on...). It runs quite smoothly on a K6-III/450 with a TNT2.

Great job on this window decoration. Now if some bright coder could make Mosfets transparent menu option a system event, rather then ties to a style. . .I would no longer have OSX envy ;)
