Description:

This is a modification of the kwinacquamod with dropshadows...

i added the goodies from my former kwinacqua mod:

- correct buttons and button placements
- grey inactive titlebars

and i added these configuration options:

- shadowed titlebar text is now optional
- you can choose between
-- no right button
-- a menu button
-- a context-help button

(just look at screenshot 1 :) )

I also changed the name of the lib, so you can install mine and another kwinacqua without any problems....

Installing:

$ ./configure [ options ]
$ make
# make install

for debian users, there's an install script which sets all the correct configure options, so it's only:
$ ./build-debian.sh
# make install

Last changelog:

New configuration option:
- "borderless" mode
( check screenshot 2 )

New configuration option:
- "light inactive style", inactive title bar is not darkened
...done upon request from here, but it looks so cool, it's now default :)
you can see the effect on screenshot 3 - doesn't look like much, but try it out! You'll be surprised!

Bugfix:
- icon doesn't get drawn behind buttons if the window-width is too small

I also have issues compiling this. I am getting a similar message when the system attempts to create /usr/lib/kwin.la - "No rule..." Forgive me for sounding like a newbie, which I really don't consider myself as I've been playing with Linux since 1995, but what causes such errors?

I like this very much, so I want to install on my Gentoo system.
But compilation fails immediatly with this message:

Very nice style, I'd love to use it, but I'm having some troubles:
./configure works without errors
make compiles without errors
make install (as su) works without errors
and then? I cannot select the style. It just doesn't show up. Maybe it installs into the wrong directory (I'm running Mandrake 9.2)?

Pleeeeeeaaaaaassse help!

Hey person who made this theme! It looks really good, and I'd like to have it on my computer, but I can't seem to get it going. I think I've installed acquaosk, a theme that is basicilly the same as this one, but I couldn't get the OS X tool bar working. I'm using SuSE 8.2 Pro, and right now I've got a tool-bar on it that is called "Glow". It looks OK, and I'm happy with it, but I'd like to have the little bar across the top look like OS X. Anyway, I can ./configure it, make it, and make install it, and I get no errors, but I can't seem to "activate" it. On most "themes" like this in SuSE 8.2 Pro, you right-click on the tool-bar and go to "Configure Window Behavior", and it brings up the different types of tool-bars you can have. I can't find it there, and so I was wondering if you could help me get it on my system. Thanks!

P.S. I've tried using Control Center on SuSE also, and couldn't get it there either.

It required me to install a newer version of autoconf (manually, as the debian package system didn't seem to have it). This really shouldn't be necesarry, the autoconf system is intended for use *before* distribution, and there shouldn't be parts requiring it in the distribution.

Hi. I'm running KDE 3.1 on FreeBSD 4.8. I installed this theme which looks really cool. I installed it as directed and it seemed to work fine. However my KDE does not "see it." I'm betting it's a path issue. Does anyone know what setting in which file I need to change to get KDE to see it? I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Charles

I could install aqua without any problem, but I'm not able to choose it from the window decoration tab. I looked up for a line "kinstalltheme" in install.sh but I don't have that line.
any other suggestion? I'm using redhat 8 with kde3.1.3...

like guppetto already said, is there a way to move the minimize,maximize,close buttons to the right and menu one to the left because I find it very awkward to use them on the left side. There is probably something in the coding that can be changed, could you tell me what to change please and I can change it myself. Thanks.

This is truly a sweet windec. Would it be posible to configure the buttons to a particular side. Some people like the Mac Style left side buttons, and some prefer the windows right side button. Could a switch be installed allowing users to pick?

Not sure about previous version or future, but on my RC2 of Mandrake I had to move the files around since they got compiled into the wrong directories. After compiling I did the following:

mv /usr/local/kde/share/apps/kwin/acqual3m.desktop /usr/share/apps/kwin/

mv /usr/local/kde/lib/kde3/* /usr/lib/kde3/

Optional if you want to keep your system clean of fake files and directories to avoid confusion:

NOTE Make sure you dont need or have anything else inside this folder... Mine was created at the time of compile for this theme. I am not responsible if you remove somthing you wherent supposed to.

rm -Rf /usr/local/kde

PS.. Love this theme.

i'm having a bit of trouble setting this up, when i run the ./configure command i get the following error:

checking for libz... configure: error: not found. Check your installation and look into config.log.

I've searched for a libz package for mandrake 9.0 but the closest thing i came to was the zlib1 package listed in kpackage. any ideas where i can get libz?

thanks

One small wish:
Could you add a sticky/unsticky button? That is the only thing I miss.

Ok, I made some little changes, If anybody is interested I can send the patch for Acqua.cpp.. just email me if you want it: filippo@email.it

features:

* fixed black line along the bottom in MacOSX style shadow mode (thanks Thowil =);

* titlebar is lower so you can use bigger fonts

* the shadow is more "light" so matching the default Liquid shadow color

* borderless mode improved

L3m I hope you like it, what about a new release? try it! =)

Let's keep this kwinaqua as the default one! So far I only miss:

* the ability to configure the buttons position (although the default is correct)

* titelbar text should be *centered*, while right now it's a bit on the right (any hint for this?)

ciao
