Description:

This is a new version of the glow window decoration which will hopefully appear in the KDE 3.2 release. The main new feature is the customization of the buttons (later also the rest of the title bar will be customizable). Read the theme-devel/README file to get an overview on how to create a new button theme.
To build and install the theme, use
'make -f Makefile.cvs; ./configure; make; su -c "make install" '. Note that this will overwrite the glow window decoration of your default kde installation.

Would it be too much to ask for a title bar text placement option? Glow is my favorite decor but I really wish I could center the text on my title bars....

Im compiling it right now.. Actually, you are teaching me something: I can type (as an example) instead of 3 seperate commands! It saves time ;)!! My Linux love-o-meter is going up! Nice piece of work that is.

Let me first tell you that your window decoration looks GREAT, and that I WILL NOT REST until I have it installed.

That said, whenever I try to compile anything that requires Qt, I get the following error:

=========
checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.1 (20021021)) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation!
=========

However, I know for a fact that I have Qt 3.1.1 in /usr/lib/qt3 , with the *.so.3.1.1 files in /usr/lib/qt3/lib . What can I do to make configure find my Qt3 libraries? Can I edit something in the configure script?

If it isn't obvious, I haven't been using Linux for very long. Any help would be appreciated.

You should have QTDIR set as an environment variable. Put it in /etc/profile or ~/.bash_profile

Just in case, somebody else comes across that error:
It can be resolved by installing kdebase-devel :-)

This window decoration is _really_ nice, especially the square theme. Now there is only one thing that I miss: the ability to maximize the window enough so that the close-button is in the very corner of the screen, making it possible to just move the mouse upwards and to the right as much as possible and then click to kill a maximized app. This complies very good with Fitts' law, which says that a button on the edge of the screen has infinite width, and that a button on the top or bottom of the screen has infinite height.
If you don't understand what I mean check the images at this URL:
http://nyadoxa.no-ip.org/~invitro/glowsuggestion

Maybe this is a KDE-thing, but I haven't managed to find an option enabling this feature.

I hope this is possible to do,
Viktor

Ok, I tried compiling and installing this. Everything seems to work fine, no errors are generated. But glow won't overwrite my current glow. I still have the older version in my Window Decoration settings window. I am running SuSE 8.2 Pro.

Please help.

Did you set the prefix? If you don't set the prefix in SuSE Linux distro's it will install into the wrong location. Try ./configure --prefix=/opt/kde3

Hi, I made my first window theme package today, and the size is more than 500K.
Your theme is under 300, which is better.
The configure stuff is a huge load to carry around. What did you do to
make the package smaller?
thank you

It's now my default. It's got a nice 3D effect when glass is used and it's more elegant then Keramik and the new class of in your face decorations. NICELY done.

I personally don't like the Keramik window decoration, but the Keramik style goes great with the Glow window decoration :-)

New toy! :) This version looks kind of weird with my current colour scheme, but nothing a bit o' testing and re-coordination can't solve.
