I love this icon theme.

I am such a sucker for green on black (i loved my green on black terminal) and these icons fit great with an all black background, which I tend to end up with.

Website seems to be down. I can not download it or go to Amibug's personal page. DAMN! This is one of the best icon sets too! Does anyone have a mirror?

Now this theme is even better than ever! Those fixes were the frosting on the cake. Now I can't imagine what else you can improve. Maybe animated Icons lol. That would take forever but anyway if you find anything cool than do it and release it as 2.0 ;) Great Work!

I recently tried out KDE 3.0 compiled from sources on Solaris (don't know the version) in school. But when I apply the Slick Icon theme, the icon for the K Menu is not changed. All the other icons are updated, but not that one. I noticed that the user spanky seems to experience the same problem, looking at the http://www.kde-look.org/content/preview.php?file=1287-1.png
screenshot. When I use the RMB menu on Kicker and select Add-Special Button, the icon for K Menu is correct in the RMB menu, but if I actually add a K Menu button, it has the default icon. If I use the iKons theme, it's the same thing there. Other icons are correct, but the K Menu one is wrong. It MIGHT be that the people who compiled KDE here has made some mistake during the compilation. They've seemed to do that before, and this new version also doesn't show PNG files correctly, all the colors are screwed up. Does anyone have an idea of what to do about the icon problem (or the PNG problem for that matter)?

I have the same problem! :\

Its a KDE 3 problem. 2 isnt effected (not with kicker anyway). I also compile from source, but I cant see what we could be doing wrong.

So far I can offer a very half assed solution, which is to run the slick install script (in the slick directory) as, 'install.sh overwrite'

NOTE: this WILL OVERWRITE most of the default hicolor theme, its not a very nice solution at all. but it fixes kicker and a number of other apps which wont theme (partially kate, kcm applets run from outside kcontrol, konqueror when embedding sometimes.)

Have fun

I just downloaded the theme and installed it on my own computer (KDE 2.2.1) and it worked just fine. All the icons updated, including the K Menu one. Perhaps it's just a compilation error in the KDE in school then?

OMFG you're amazing!!! The best artist I've ever seen !
I visited your website whhich btw kicks major ass and I looked in the gallery. I was speechless1 (well it's not like I would talk to my computer anyway but everything except the thing created in M$ Paint was fantastic)

I also think this icon theme is so good that I like it better than the mac and XP ones. I like your theme/style too but I think it's way too dark for me. Anyway you should be extremely proud you have no waiut you are made of talent! All of the best artists that do things like these should get together and make some really amazing theme/style mosfet you and all the other great artists.

Shit i drooled all over my keyboard!

WOW! Your installation tip to Tulevik on 2/18 was a big help...I had run in to the same prob. I thought it would be a lot tougher than that. Just finished installing Mandrake 8.2 this week, and Slick is a nice touch. Fantastic job you've done...now I gotta go peruse the rest of the icon set.

Just one suggestion: I think it would be great if you change the green color on the icons (almost every icon has a green color part) to some blue, like in the desktop icon. The green color is IMHO a bit bothersome. And I'd like to see improved computer icons, because computers in your icons look quite old-fashioned;-)
But this is just an opinion.

SuSE user here! Keep the green!! :)

Report

I'm suse user, too;-)
The problem for me is that I don't like dark desktops, and slick on light desktop doesn't look so nice as iKons (or crystal), which are BLUE;-)

Report

Eh, I don't know. Yes iKons look good, haven't tried Crystal yet. Anyway I like them the way they are.
I just don't like to see regular and photo realistic icons together. That really sucks:(

The SuSE specific icons on my kicker seem like they just don't fit there.

Ah well I messed it up nicely :)

Yes it is a bzip2 file with .gz

It was supposed to be a .gz file but in my tiredness last night I must have slipped with the switches. In future it will be bzip2 as it does knock 100k off the file size.

I downloaded 1.2 twice this morning, both times I tried

tar -zxpf slick*

I got an error that the archive was corrupt.

Anyone else had any trouble?

BTW this is, in my view, the best set of icons for kde.

Here's how to get these awesome icons! :o)

1) Rename to slick-1.2.1.tar.bz2
2) bunzip2 slick-1.2.1.tar.bz2
3) gzip slick-1.2.1.tar

Now you can install slick-1.2.1.tar.gz via KControl!

Report

The file appears corupted. The tar archive won't install in KControl. When I open the tar up in Konq, all the files have really long names with some very strange characters.

Report

kevryn

Although it says it's a .tar.gz, it's actually a .tar.bz2. He mentioned on his site that he tried bz2 but it made the file even bigger, so he went back to gzip, but he must have uploaded the wrong file or something.

Report

I figured the bzip2 thing mighta had somethin' to do with it.

I guess one can just bunzip it and then gzip it and install via kcontrol...
