(If you have KDE 3.3 or greater, please use the SVG version of my iconset:
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=17158)

Yes, they are grey.

It has been a while, but I finally motivated myself to work on the set again.
I now feel happy to call this set "Version 1.0".

With 1776 pieces of SVG goodness, I believe that my iconset is the most comprehensive of any in KDE - tell me if it is also the best :)
As KDE 3.3 has now been released (with improved SVG support), I have released the SVG version of this set in parallel.

The response to this iconset has been amazing, especially the few emails I have received - thanks everyone!

(Created as SVG in Inkscape).

----
I also strongly recommend my Flat extras pack: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=12592
This package contains loads of extras that cannot be easily installed - Flat splash screens for apps, colour schemes, misc images, etc. - for a consistent Flat desktop.

Last changelog:

0.96c - Now at 1680 icons.
In this release, I have continued the cleanup of many of my icons, and added over 100 new ones. Many of these new icons are for SuSE.

0.9.6b - Now at 1561 icons.
Though I have still added a few requests - and I still have some more to do - the main aim for this release was the cleanup of many of the icons - I think that there is a noticeable difference in the quality of this version compared to previous ones.

0.9.6 - I have decided to release again, as the changes have built up: added all of the requests for icons, tweaked many icons to make them look better, changed the juk and noatun buttons - now much better. And of course, 48 new icons.

0.9.5 - Now at 1486 icons.
Again, not too many new icons (80 new ones, many application-specific), but I guess it is time to update anyway :)
In this release, I have tried to satisfy requests - added icons for gaim, gkrellm, amarok, also a few new folder types - but I cannot think of anymore on my own :)

I'll second that request. I'd love to see firefox and thunderbird themes. That would make my whole desktop consistent! I have been searching for this kind of a look for a long time.

Thanks for the great work!

Hello again,

Have you any plans to create icon for BitTorrent files? Now I got only "unknown" question marks with them. And then the Quanta icon is used only for Quanta but not for Bleeding Edge version of it. Could you fix this one too? Simple copy/linking should do this, I think.

Thanks.

I will see what I can do about the bittorrent mimetype - however, I do not know if I can do anything about quanta: if I do not know the name of the new icon, I cannot make it work.

However, hopefully the stable version of quanta can fix this...

I have discussed about the bittorrent issue with the creator of kfile_torrent. He's trying to get his kfile_torrent (can be found on kde-apps.org) into CVS, and there's mimetype file for torrent already. The icon is called bt.png, if you want to do it.

And for the Quanta issue just copy quanta.png to quanta_be.png and that's it.

I also noticed that there are no icons for KimDaBa, KPlayer and ShowImg, in case you want to add them too :)

Sure, I now have a backlog of icons that I need to create - I will add it to the list and make all of them :)

Thanks for being helpful and giving me the name of the actual icons.

b.t.w. are you using the latest release of the icons? what do you think - any other improvements?

Report

Yes I'm using the latest release, for sure. I can't see much "non-flattened" icons, but yes, there are still some.. Have you yet took a look at kdevelop? There's couple of them. Also kdewebdev/kimagemapeditor's icon isn't flattened. And KFileReplace button in Konqueror's toolbar and KFontView icon too.

Anyways what about making k3b theme? I know it isn't really small project, but that would be nice addition to your extra-pack :)

That's everything atm, but I'll try to report you if I find something else.. And thanks a lot for this sweetie, I love it :)

hehe, funny you should talk about a k3b theme - I have already made one for the Flat extras pack, but have not yet released it as some parts look crap :)

I will work on all this stuff, and tell you when I have done it.

I like these icons, especially since they're so all-encompassing.

have you considered also distributing 128x128 versions? perhaps as a separate download?

hmm, have you considered a firefox theme? :)

Report

Thanks - I have just posted an update that looks even better :)

I have thought about packaging 128x128 icons, but the fast development - not to mention already large download size - prohibits this. However, when the icon set becomes more stable, I may think about doing this.

About doing a firefox theme - there are many things that I want to do in the future: but at this moment in time I am concentrating on my icons and Flat-extras pack*

*b.t.w. Highly Recommended!

Thanks,
Danny

Unless I'm missing something, there don't seem to be icons for KConfigure or KMyMoney. Please consider adding these.

Also, KGet's system tray icon is still unchanged from my old theme, though Klipper reflects the new Flat artwork.

Finally, LinNeighborhood displays the Flat icon in the launcher, but not in the taskbar. Any idea why?

Thanks for a great set! Used with your Superkaramba themes, it makes my whole desktop feel "special" -- like something no Mac or Win user will ever get the chance to enjoy. And that's what this is all about, isn't it? Making us the "haves" instead of the "have-nots"! :-)

Sure, I will add kconfigure and kmymoney for the next release. I will investigate kget.

If linneighbourhood is a gtk app (which I guess it is) then this will happen. Sorry :)

Thanks a lot for the comments - and of course the positive comments! - I really appreciate them. The next release has lots of refinements on the poorer looking icons: this will be released in the next few days.

Have you tried out my Flat extras pack?
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=12592

Finally, do you have a screenshot of your desktop? I love to see how my stuff is used.

Thanks,
Danny.

I'm afraid I keep my desktop as boring as possible -- and this message board doesn't seem to allow uploads. Sensible. I'll see if I can purloin some space on a freind's server...

Since you are into the Flat concept.. I found a few firefox links that resemble your work. Thought you might want to know about them.

The Flat for GNOME iconset is coming along well, all I have left to do is a few tweaks and the /pixmaps folder.

Expect the Flat for GNOME iconset to be unvieled within a few days.

b.t.w. is this a full vector package, not a bitmap version?

Wow - you want me to go all the way!
I am working on another part of Flat at the moment - it's a secret until I release it (today or tomorrow) :)

Though I am happy with plastik style and win dec - and I have never tried to create a style or win dec! - I will of course think about it.

I have made a sim icon, and I believe that this same icon is used as the sys tray entry. Keep watchin' :)

Looks very good! I just downloaded the tar file to install it on my machine. Thanks for the great work... now, let me ask you. What is the cool-looking weather-reporting tool on the upper right corner of your desktop? I'd love to have it on my desktop, too!

Keep up the great work!
