(If you have KDE 3.3 or greater, please use the SVG version of my iconset:
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=17158)

Yes, they are grey.

It has been a while, but I finally motivated myself to work on the set again.
I now feel happy to call this set "Version 1.0".

With 1776 pieces of SVG goodness, I believe that my iconset is the most comprehensive of any in KDE - tell me if it is also the best :)
As KDE 3.3 has now been released (with improved SVG support), I have released the SVG version of this set in parallel.

The response to this iconset has been amazing, especially the few emails I have received - thanks everyone!

(Created as SVG in Inkscape).

----
I also strongly recommend my Flat extras pack: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=12592
This package contains loads of extras that cannot be easily installed - Flat splash screens for apps, colour schemes, misc images, etc. - for a consistent Flat desktop.

Last changelog:

0.96c - Now at 1680 icons.
In this release, I have continued the cleanup of many of my icons, and added over 100 new ones. Many of these new icons are for SuSE.

0.9.6b - Now at 1561 icons.
Though I have still added a few requests - and I still have some more to do - the main aim for this release was the cleanup of many of the icons - I think that there is a noticeable difference in the quality of this version compared to previous ones.

0.9.6 - I have decided to release again, as the changes have built up: added all of the requests for icons, tweaked many icons to make them look better, changed the juk and noatun buttons - now much better. And of course, 48 new icons.

0.9.5 - Now at 1486 icons.
Again, not too many new icons (80 new ones, many application-specific), but I guess it is time to update anyway :)
In this release, I have tried to satisfy requests - added icons for gaim, gkrellm, amarok, also a few new folder types - but I cannot think of anymore on my own :)

I believe Gaim is already in there. OR at least an AIM icon.

I'm glad that you like them :)
I will look into Gkrellm and Gaim, however Mozilla Firebird is already in the set.
I will also make some more folder icons - if I can think of some :)

If you have any ideas, I would like to hear them!

I've always loved black and white icons, they don't hit your eyes with fancy color. This icons set is simply a great work.

Keep on...

The following icons are missing: 'find', 'increase font sizes' and 'decrease font sizes'.

By the way very nice and original icons theme (In the top two, with Sparkling of course!)

Report

you say "find" "increase font sizes" etc...

In what application?

b.t.w. thanks for rating it alongside sparkling :)

alongside with sparkling?
god!
flat is the best icon set i have ever seen!

I assure the other readers that I have NOT paid the-q to say all of these wonderful things about my set :)

By the way: is the klipper system tray icon fixed in this release, the-Q?

You may notice that the system tray icons are a bit fuzzy - I have fixed this and it will be visible in the next release.

Also, any other suggestions?

0.9.3, and still not fixed.

I may have a fix - if you can wait until the next version (a couple of days)...

If not, tell me and I will tell you how to fix it yourself...

I really do not know why this is happening - I notice that you are running at 1280x1024, meaning that KDE may use bigger icons on your computer to compensate; do you know what size the icons in your system tray are?

22x22 i think, but im not sure :/

i will wait for the fix :)

thanks much.

Great to see that you're updating this set very fast. The last one before 0.9.3 for me was 0.8 and I have seen that there's new stuff like "thrubber" for Konqueror, which I like very much. Anyways if I can give you and suggestion it would be cool to see it "moving" when something is getting loaded.

Well, that's all this time. I see there are some apps without icons in kdesdk (like kbabel), but that's not so important. If you anyways want to do it, take a look at kdesdk icons, as there are some that are missing.

Thanks :)

Hi, thanks for the comment.
I agree that the throbber should be animated - because the throbber is in a different layout than the rest, I have put it off.

I will change this for the next release :)

When you say kdesdk icons are missing, can you be more specific? What are there names, etc, as I do not know where they should go.

Thanks,
Danny.

Hi and sorry about being obscure.

At least icons for KBabel, its catalogmanager, Cervisia and KCacheGrind are missing. There's also no icon for kdeextragear-2/kimdaba.

Thanks for a quick reply :)

Ok, I can do something about kbabel and kcachegrind...

Cervistia = bad for icons!

Will add these for next release...

Any other suggestions?

Well, actually I see there's only one app in my system tray which doesn't has Flat icon on it and it's Klipper. That'd be cool :)

Nothing else this time, but maybe later...

Feel free to ravage through Reinhardt and find the icons I've done in there :) But I totally agree that it is silly that it should be that difficult to change the dock icons (they are really in your face, and it's annoying when the icon sets are so different, to have icons differing in style). I've currently only got the KOrganizer Alarm Daemon missing, do tell if you find out how to fix that one :)

As for this being prettier than Reinhardt, I suspect most people will say that, and I for one would probably tend to agree, on some level at least :) Reinhardt really is very, very minimalist, where you've tried to create something slightly less, well, fringe ;) Nice work, I will have to download and look too, when I have the bandwidth to spare *kicks stupid 5gb a month limit* :)

Thanks for the comment.
Just looked at your icons - why do the system tray icons have such oddball names !?! :)

For example, Juk has "juk_dock", whereas KMix has "kmixdocked". Crazy.

I hope you don't think that I have copied your icon style :) - I simply started drawing icons in my own style (a fusion of others).

Thanks for the insight,
Danny.

I've already posted comments about the naming of dock icons on b.k.o, and the problem is mainly, that there isn't actually any defined scheme for naming dock icons. I would love to see that happen, at some point, preferably before 3.3 :P

And nope, I don't think you copied my icons, you were simply inspired by, amongst others, my set :) This is how work is done, and well done :)

hey, reinhardt icons are great too. but flat is the best icon set arount.
reinhardt style, is superb (actually, im using slicker [the old version of reinhardt], because the tabs in reinhardt look bad).

reinhardt (slicker) style + web window decoration + flat icon set + grey color settings = a perfect desktop.

flat was the only missing thing here, and now it is complete.

Thanks for the many comments - the comments so far have been uplifting and informative :)

I have just uploaded a wallpaper and splash screen to accompany the flat icon set that I made quickly last night - they may interest you (or may not, depending on your taste :)

b.t.w. I have made a few more folder types for my upcoming release.

Thanks,
Danny.

May not be up to your expectations though :)

I only made the wallpaper and screenshot quickly last night, for my own use really...

I would love to see your screenshot however.
