(If you have KDE 3.3 or greater, please use the SVG version of my iconset:
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=17158)

Yes, they are grey.

It has been a while, but I finally motivated myself to work on the set again.
I now feel happy to call this set "Version 1.0".

With 1776 pieces of SVG goodness, I believe that my iconset is the most comprehensive of any in KDE - tell me if it is also the best :)
As KDE 3.3 has now been released (with improved SVG support), I have released the SVG version of this set in parallel.

The response to this iconset has been amazing, especially the few emails I have received - thanks everyone!

(Created as SVG in Inkscape).

----
I also strongly recommend my Flat extras pack: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=12592
This package contains loads of extras that cannot be easily installed - Flat splash screens for apps, colour schemes, misc images, etc. - for a consistent Flat desktop.

Last changelog:

0.96c - Now at 1680 icons.
In this release, I have continued the cleanup of many of my icons, and added over 100 new ones. Many of these new icons are for SuSE.

0.9.6b - Now at 1561 icons.
Though I have still added a few requests - and I still have some more to do - the main aim for this release was the cleanup of many of the icons - I think that there is a noticeable difference in the quality of this version compared to previous ones.

0.9.6 - I have decided to release again, as the changes have built up: added all of the requests for icons, tweaked many icons to make them look better, changed the juk and noatun buttons - now much better. And of course, 48 new icons.

0.9.5 - Now at 1486 icons.
Again, not too many new icons (80 new ones, many application-specific), but I guess it is time to update anyway :)
In this release, I have tried to satisfy requests - added icons for gaim, gkrellm, amarok, also a few new folder types - but I cannot think of anymore on my own :)

the X (stop) in konqi looks bad.
can you make it a bit more normal?

can you make some more misc folder icons?

this icon set is a masterpiece.

Thanks for the ideas - I will try to add these new folders into the 0.9.1 release.

I intended to release 0.9.1 today, but I want to change a few more things (and add these new folders :) so I will probably release tomorrow (26/04).

Do please keep working on this set! It looks like something I'd like to use. I only looked at the previews though and didn't download since you mentioned it's a work in progress. I'll wait for the finished version. :)

I do have an idea though. Maybe you could make them semi-transparent (or a separate semi-transparent version) so that it would kinda "blend" in with backgrounds.

As you're working with SVGs, you could easily write a quick shell/python/perl script to run through all the files changing the colours. So long as you're using a standard set of gradients on each icon, it's a simple matter of substuting the hex values for colours.

So you could very quickly produce any colour scheme you like. Find a few good defaults and package the script with SVGs ;)

Never thought of that - hovever, I have no scripting skills whatsoever...

looks like manually changing colours for me! :(

Don't forget Leinir's "Reinhardt" iconset as it is a pretty big obvious influence with this set.

Personally neither sets are particularly my taste, I'm a crystal fan-boy ;) although i can see room for sets like there.

yep, reinhardt did influence this set, also icons such as lila and to a lesser extent, crystal.

Although, I have tried to carve out my own style here - combining the best of all these sets :)

When I am finished creating the rest of these icons, I plan to add colour, to further differentiate my icons - any colour suggestions?

Nice work. Not necessarely my cup of tea, but it's something different :)

IMHO your icons would look better they were a bit more contrasted, not just 2 color, but a light gray gradient.
They're also a bit dark for me, kinda depressing lol ;)

But keep up the good work, thanks for contributing your efforts :)

Yeah, once I finish the icon set (hopefully not too long!), I plan to make a coloured version.

What colours should I use?
Primary, pastels, ???

It's a matter of taste ;)
Personally, I'm currently using Graphite-Rade8 a _lot_.

As far as primary colors are concerned, I think we pretty much have the excellent Crystal set from Everaldo, so why not go for something slightly different ? ;)

It's true that your set has something about the Reinhardt icon set, but yours look better IMHO, because they're more subtle.

Still, a grey gradient and/or slight shinyness, a little "plastified", would look really cool ;)

But then again, that's just my very personal taste ;)

Thanks, I like to think of my icons as a fusion of different styles, with my own style thrown on top :)

As for the colours, I plan to create a coloured version once I have finished the set - curruntly I am thinking about orange: what do you think?

As for colors, I would like to see more primary colors that are not crystal-like, though I have to admit, my fave set (Melody Gold) are kind of crystalish.

For this set, I think the *really* nifty thing is, because they are grayscale, you can use the KDE advance Icon settings to have more fun with them, like colorize them and such.

I also like how the unounted device icons are "broken" instead of the mounted icons having some sort of marker on them.

Overall I think its simple and straightforward. Nice look. Some of the icons have inconsistent proportions. For example the "arms" of the add icon is much thinner than the "arms" of the cancel icon. Without color you are gonna need to differentiate you icons with shape and design to make them as usable as possible. Overall you have done a good job for your first icon set.
