Hi there,

It looks really nice, but I'm having some issues with menus, they look all cramped, so far spotted the problem on Evolution as well as Xed (see secreenshot: https://imgur.com/a/U6Aec).
Running plain vanilla Linux Mint 18 XFCE 64 bits with all updates installed.
Thanks.

sorry, but you need at least gtk3.20 which was released over one and a half year ago

What font are you using in the screenshot above?

I found a mistake in the manual
ln -s $prefix/share/themes/phlat/@extra/appthemes/qt5ct/colors/phlat_QGtkStyle.conf $prefix/usr/share/qt5ct/colors/phlat_QGtkStyle.conf
ln -s $prefix/share/themes/phlat/@extra/appthemes/qt5ct/qss/phlat_QGtkStyle.qss $prefix/usr/share/qt5ct/qss/phlat_QGtkStyle.qss

Should be
ln -s $prefix/share/themes/phlat/@extra/appthemes/qt5ct/colors/phlat_QGtkStyle.conf $prefix/share/qt5ct/colors/phlat_QGtkStyle.conf
ln -s $prefix/share/themes/phlat/@extra/appthemes/qt5ct/qss/phlat_QGtkStyle.qss $prefix/share/qt5ct/qss/phlat_QGtkStyle.qss
I guess...

And there's a mismatch in the example of changing colors: #818DA5 on the picture but #94618E in the description.
Good luck! And many thanks for your job.

I've tried to change the highlight color using the command provided in the GitHub page but it just doesn't work. The message says the current color is the one I chose, but everything still is purple.

The theme is awesome, btw.

make sure you reload the theme after a color change(best way is to relogin) also there could be an issue with some older YAD installations so you could try the direct way eg (bash changecolor.sh -c "#16A085")

I've tried that, with no success. I've tried logging off and in again, restarting the X server and rebooting.

I've tried both ways with the script, and I've also tried to manually edit the gtkrc file in the gtk-2.0 folder (I'm using Lubuntu 17.04).

of the script had no error the active arrow should have your color intead of purple https://github.com/sixsixfive/phlat/blob/master/images/gtk-2.0/arrow-down_active.svg if thats not the case then you miss one of the script dependencies (sed, tr and/or find) alsp if you use lubuntu you should be able to install the deb linked above

My installation was broken, I tried installing again with the deb and now the color change works, thanks a lot!

Thats one of the best dark themes I've ever seen, there are no contrast issues(at least I haven't found any yet). Its also nice to have a theme that fully supports Hidpi since I plan to buy a 4k monitor.

Great :D Thought the frameless notebook looks a bit strange?

Report

not really since you will never see so many tabs ( eg. most of the time they will look like: http://en.zimagez.com/zimage/screenshot2017-05-0817-07-20.php ) - also traditional notebooks are not really possible in GTK3 anymore and have been mostly replaced by OS X-like stacks so the GTK2 apps will look like the other GTK3 apps.

Are you referring to the enforced frame that goes through the tabs since GTK 3.20? I'm thinking of opening a bug report.

Report

yes there is a frame however its drawn around the whole notebook including the tabs, there is also a difference how treeviews are drawn in gtk3 so to making a gtk2-like gtk3 notebook requires a lot of hacks (https://github.com/sixsixfive/Hedera/blob/master/OLD/SRC/themes/Hedera-dev/gtk-3.0/theme/frame.css#L41)
