Violet Comeback (GTK2, GTK3, Gnome Shell and Cinnamon)
GTK3 Themes
Score 54%
Description:

This theme is the GTK2 / GTK3 counterpart to the Qt 5 / KDE color scheme "Violet Comeback". It is mainly aimed at being used to integrate any GTK application running in KDE Plasma 5. If you wish, you can also use it directly in Gnome, though it has not been tested thoroughly.

This theme is based on Numix and was generated with oomox. For GTK2, it requires gtk-engine-murrine to be installed.

Please note that this is the first version of this theme and I'll mark it as beta 1. I am no Gnome user at all (or very rarely), but a full time KDE user. However, I do use GTK applications every day (Thunderbird, Firefox, LibreOffice...), so I wish to have a GTK3 theme that suits my KDE desktop.

Important note: for the GTK2 applications, you may find that some items are oversized (scrollbars, menus, buttons...). I am trying to figure out how to reduce all those spaces that are basically useless. If you are using KDE Plasma 5, you may want to consider the "Violet Comeback" QtCurve presets to avoid those ridiculously high spaces. In a GTK environment, I guess that you can also use the QtCurve presets instead of the GTK2 theme thanks to lxappearance (to be confirmed).

**16/08/2017**
As of beta 2 version, the size of buttons, boxes and menus should be greatly reduced for the GTK2 version, making it suitable to use, though some improvements remain to be made. Refer to screenshots if you want to see how some GTK2 apps run in KDE Plasma 5. If you wish to use the theme in a standalone manner, please note that it should work fine in Cinnamon and XFCE.
Regarding the GTK3 version, no change has been made in beta 2 version. Some issues exist in the GTK3 version: there are no borders at all on some windows and no shadow, which make the look a bit too flat. The windows cannot be handled properly (to my taste).

To install, download the VioletComebackGTK.tar.gz package and extract it to your ~/.themes folder.

In GNOME, use the Tweak Tool to set Violet Comeback as a the GTK+ theme. An icon set suited for dark themes is recommended.
In KDE, go to System Settings > Application Style > GNOME Application Style (GTK), and select VioletComebackGTK as your GTK3 theme. For GTK2, you can select VioletComebackGTK from the dropdown list, or select QtCurve if you prefer (see installation for QtCurve on the dedicated page for downloading the QtCurve presets).

Please check my page if you need the QtCurve presets, the Plasma 5 theme and KDE color scheme for Violet Comeback.

I like this theme, but buttons still needs some adjustment. In my opinion buttons should not be colored unless they are selected. And the gradient stile of the buttons in Nautilus not fit really good with this flat theme. Anyway thanks. Any plan for a Shell theme?

Hi morphis, thanks for your comment. Indeed, this theme needs to be improved in order to be used in GTK environments. In the next version the gradient in the Nautilus buttons will be removed and some other changes will affect both GTK2 and GTK3 (especially the padding and other button / menu / box effects. It should be closer to the Plasma/Qt theme, which is the base for the GTK version which primarily aims at integrating GTK apps in KDE (same old story). As for a Shell theme, it is not in my plans right now and I don't have the knowledge to do it. Maybe in the future, but I must say I'm mainly a KDE user ;-) If someone wants to start creating a shell theme for Gnome, Cinnamon and other GTK environments, welcome!

Thanks for the answer. Well, for the shell theme I think you can start just using the default one and change the color selection to your violet. But I understand that it is not one of your priorities. Anyway, i really like this color scheme. I wait for next version. :-)

Thank you, It will not be long until the next beta comes out ;-)
Well, though the GTK3 situation may have improved, it still a hassle developing a shell theme and make sure of the consistency of all extensions, as each has its own CSS underneath which seems to be difficult to override, as far as I know... That and the fact that the theme may be broken in the near future. I won't promise anything about a shell theme in this sense. I'll focus on the appearence of the GTK apps for now :)

Thanks! It's really better now. There is a problem with notifications with gnome 3.24. The text is unreadable:
