Description:

material-black COLORS is a new GTK, xfwm4, openbox-3, GNOME-Shell, and Cinnamon- Dark Mode Theme with matching Icons and Folders.

The material-black COLORS theme is based on Material Design standards and aims to bring a warm, colorful, and elegant experience to your desktop. Black-on-black-on-black with one additional color just where you need it.

Both the Suru++ and the Numix icons and folders have been carefully crafted to match the material-black COLORS desktop flavors, but they can surely compliment other desktop themes that sport matching color hues.

Special thanks to the Numix team for their inspiration, expertise and contributions at: https://github.com/numixproject/numix-icon-theme. The Suru-grounded icon set was initially designed and developed by Sam Hewitt - under GPL3. The original Suru icon set and concept was created by Matthieu James - Canonical Design Team. Core developers are Andrea Bonanni (original author) and Gustavo Costa . Devices icons are inspired by La Capitaine created by Keefer Rourke - under GPL3/MIT. Emoji icons are derived from the Twenoji created by Twitter Team - under MIT. Some icons are based on Numix mimetypes icons created by the Numix Team - under GPL3. Devices and places icons and several apps icons are inspired by Papirus icons created by Alexey Varfolomeev - under GPL3. Numberless icons are from Gravit Designer, under GPL3/MIT.

Manual Installation Is Easy:

For themes: 1) Extract the "tar.xz" file into your "~/.themes/" folder - to install for current user only - or into the "/usr/share/themes/" folder - for the theme to be applied globally. 2) Use the GNOME Tweak Tool or an equivalent app to enable it for your desktop.

If installing manually, make sure to install the dependency: "Murrine theme engine" if you do not already have it; and update your GTK+packages if you have not.

For icons: 1) Extract the "tar.xz" file into your "~/.icons/" folder - to install for current user only - or into the "/usr/share/icons/" folder - for the icons and folders to be applied globally. 2) Use the GNOME Tweak Tool or an equivalent app to enable them for your desktop.

Logging out and then logging back in may be necessary on some operating systems to fully implement themes and icons.

9 Great work, thanks a lot for sharing it with us.

Anyway I don't use it yet on my Ubuntu 19.04 because of incompatibility with my very favorite file manager (Double Commander aka. doublecmd-gtk, installed through apt, not by snap or appimage).
I don't understand what makes a dark theme work with this application or not but I see that Starlabs and Adwaita-dark are theming it perfectly. I don't know the difference with a theme like yours nor which files should be included or modified, sorry to be of no help.
Do you think that this issue with Double Commander could be fixed? I would be glad to use this theme as I really like it.

Here's a concrete example:
Material Black Blueberry > https://i.imgur.com/r58oxjV.png
StarLabs Dark > https://i.imgur.com/FGDgJHI.png

I've posted a message on application's forum to get more informations about the files to customize but nobody answered for now > https://doublecmd.sourceforge.io/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5769

That's a stand-alone app which you have to theme yourself. Here is a dark theme I looked up for Double Commander: https://github.com/renyi/doublecmd-solarized. Good Luck.

Installed from apt I think it's not more "standalone" than Firefox or any app installed with the OS. And the Gnome theme integration to this app was working fine in my previous Ubuntu versions.

Anyway, I don't remember exactly why but I kept the habit to install custom themes to ~/.local/share/themes in my old Ubuntu 16.04. But I have a backup of my old system and while browsing it today I see that I had created a ~/.themes symlink pointing to ~/.local/share/themes. Im'not sure but even then, I may have done this trick to fix the DC theme.

So now I've tried to copy your theme's directory to ~/.themes on my current system, and... the magic happened ! I've now moved all my installed themes to this directory instead of my unclear symlink trick, so the apps already impacted by these themes before the change are still properly styled, and the only app to ignore the system theme is now as beautiful as the rest.

The solution was so simple. And the cause was just... my own mistake. Apologies. Happy end. And thanks again for your work on this theme ! :)

9/10 will you add more icons? For example Nautilus.desktop has the old style, same with spotify. Also the resolution of the icon of the teminal is really low and the sigma for TexWorks is backwards.

I had assumed we were talking about Numix, and I compared a couple of those from my set with the version straight from the github source, and they were the same. You may have a different experience when your system pulls all of them in. Sometimes users are looking for a different set like Numix-Circles, so I don't know if this set is even the ones you are shooting for, but I now have the very latest Numix (uncolored or customized) for anyone who wishes to use them for possible supplementation. The source version has a few extras.

Oh, I see. Well, those consist of my custom edition of the latest Suru-plus-Aspromauros. There are several variants of Suru, and none total the same exact icons. I'll put an un-customizeed file of the latest source version of Suru-plus-Aspromauros too. Best of luck with your icon roundup.
